MACK PACK (7) had a favourable gate and was too good at this track two runs ago. Drew wide last start and was easily accounted for, beaten 8 metres into ninth at Newcastle over 1609m. Gets a soft run on the inside of the second line but may need luck at some point. Primary contender if anywhere near his best. TINNY MAHONEY (10) has been racing well of late. Finished second at his latest appearance over 1609m at this track, beaten a nose. May just need a bit of luck at some point from this difficult draw. Meets a similar line up and he can figure in the finish. THOMAS ROYAL (1) is better than his last-start seventh over 1609m at this track. NIFTY STUDLEIGH (6) is the best of the rest after finishing fourth over 2030m at Newcastle last time out.
