GATESYS GEM (8) makes her first appearance since going through her three-year-old season without missing a place, last seen when third in December’s Breeders Crown 3F final. She is two from two at this circuit and distance having claimed last year's Oaks and Derby double. She flies fresh with three wins and a placing from four attempts and should be ready to go after three trial placings. Fellow Victorian IMPERIAL MONARCH (12) could pose the biggest challenge as he is race fit and looks close to a win after three straight placings, the last two at this venue. The switch to the standing start may suit having won the Geelong Cup under those conditions in March. KYVALLEY MAVEN (7) is another with the hoof on the till having placed in his three starts here since joining Jarrod Alchin, coming from a wide barrier to miss by a nose over this distance last week. SPEEDY LOVER (11) was the horse that beat him there and he is accomplished at the standing start so looks an each way hope again.
