Flemington Racecourse is one of Melbourne’s major horse racing venues, and is best known as the venue of the Melbourne Cup, along with other important Spring Carnival races such as the Victoria Derby and Mackinnon Stakes. In addition there are a many group races throughout the year. Although inside barriers can be an advantage over some distances, the long final straight and wide track give all barriers a good chance.
