Hewitt has named de Minaur, Adam Walton, James Duckworth, Rinky Hijikata and Max Purcell.

Walton, a Queenslander, is in line for a Davis Cup debut on home soil and is the likely second singles option alongside Duckworth. Purcell is the story of the week.

Walton or Duckworth against Kasnikowski or Sadzik is the tighter Saturday rubber, but Australia's depth (five players ranked inside the top 100 against Poland's two) still favours the home side.

The reason we are steering away from the clean sweep is Sunday's doubles. Zielinski is a world-class doubles player and Purcell, for all his 9-2 Davis Cup record, is only three months back from suspension with a new partner.

Poland nicking that rubber and pushing the tie into the reverse singles is a live scenario, at which point de Minaur or Walton closes it out.

The risk is de Minaur himself. The 29 unforced errors and seven double faults in New York were not a one-off bad day so much as a sign of a flat patch. If that carries into Brisbane, Poland's price on the singles rubbers starts to look a lot more tempting.
