Paris Saint-Germain typically dominates the French soccer season. They have a squad that many other Ligue 1 teams can hardly compete with, sometimes being able to waltz through the league without breaking as much as a sweat.

Last time out, the Parisians had a year to remember. They won everything that they were involved in except for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup. Cracks were starting to show in Luis Enrique’s team, as they were taken to the edge against Tottenham Hotspur in their recent UEFA Super Cup showdown.

However, are they still the team to beat, or will there be a potential challenger to their dominance at the top of the Ligue 1 ladder?

Ligue 1 Betting Preview

Often described as a one-team league, PSG continue to remain the big favourites for many this season.

However, there will be things to consider. The club has had a long season with very little rest. They weren’t very active in the transfer window, either. They’ve added Lucas Chevalier and Ukrainian central defender Illia Zabarnyi to the squad, but that’s it.

Perhaps crucially, they’ve kept most of their stars, even if Gianluigi Donnarumma looks set to move on after being told he is no longer required. Given that the majority of the squad remains together and set to be unchanged, there’s a lot to like about PSG’s chances.

Monaco are arguably the biggest title challengers to PSG this season. They will enter the season with a revamped squad, with three notable players being brought in to bring additional quality to a young group of exceptional stars. Adi Hütter really has an abundance of talent on offer.

Paul Pogba arrives after serving his suspension from the global game, while Ansu Fati is looking to prove a point while on loan from FC Barcelona. Eric Dier adds experience to the defence that could help make them a tougher team to break down.

Olympique de Marseille are another contender, with the club looking to go places under Roberto De Zerbi. The club has kept much of its core, including completing permanent signings for Jonathan Rowe, Pierre-Emile Højbjerg and Neal Maupay after successful loans. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang returns to the club to add further experience, while Facundo Medina arrives on loan, with Angel Gomes being signed on a free.

Ligue 1 Betting Predictions

The latest Ligue 1 betting odds have PSG as the huge favourites. If you’re looking for value, it’s worth considering the market that doesn’t include Luis Enrique’s team.

Marseille finished last year strongly under De Zerbi, winning four of their last five games to finish second. As they have a clear style of play under the Italian, experience, and players who can score goals, their chances are favourable.

Should Enrique’s side drop off because of the length of last season, they could be a good each-way bet, too.
