La Liga Matchweek 3 Prediction and Betting Odds

Matchweek three in La Liga will get underway on Saturday with all clubs involved across four days, with some already having to play “catch-up” in midweek to reach two games each.

Barcelona and Real Madrid have both had to play late this week to get to two, although both made winning starts to their La Liga campaigns.

But what will the third set of matches have in store for Spanish football fans?

Quick Picks

Our pick: Barcelona to win

Value bet: Sevilla to win

Long shot: Getafe to beat Osasuna

Betting Preview

The Matchweek 3 schedule is as follows (KO AEST):

Betting Markets to Watch

There are several matches this week that could offer potential value, although Sevilla home clash against Atlético Madrid perhaps stands out immediately. Both teams sit towards the top of the La Liga standings after positive starts.

Atlético are considered the early favourites , but there’s value in Sevilla . The underdogs have won two of the last three La Liga meetings against Atlético when hosts, including last season when they won 2-1.

Looking at how both have played so far this season, the goals market has value. Only one clean sheet has been kept across four games (Atlético in MW1), while three of the four have had over 2.5 goals, all games where the BTTS has hit . The former offers better value if it hits. Atlético will be without Robin Le Normand after he was sent off in matchweek two.

Real Sociedad are considered big favourites to beat Espanyol , but the draw is appealing. The last two meetings in the league have finished tied.

Espanyol started with a win before being beaten by Real Madrid in a tight 2-1 defeat by a late goal. Sociedad will enter this game off the back of a clash against Real Madrid, having lost to Betis 1-0 in their first match of the season.

Getafe to draw against Osasuna also has value in the win-draw-win market, with both playing three games in quick succession. Osasuna’s first La Liga match was Tuesday, before playing Friday, and then Tuesday.

That short turnaround is nearly matched by Getafe. Their second match of the season was played on Monday (a 1-0 win over Santander), with a Europa Conference League second leg match to navigate on Friday before facing Osasuna.

Both have two wins (one draw) in the last five meetings, but the rapid turnaround of matches could result in some fatigue, hence why the draw, and possibly goalless, could come into play.

Our Prediction

The main prediction for MW3 is that Real Madrid and Barcelona both win.

Our value bet is in Sevilla to beat Atlético Madrid , while the long shot is Getafe to draw against Osasuna. Both have the potential to come in, with particularly Sevilla as underdogs offering value plenty of worth exploring.
