Barcelona vs Real Madrid Prediction and Betting Odds

Barcelona vs Real Madrid Prediction

The first El Clásico of the season is on the cards, with Barcelona hosting Real Madrid this weekend.

The two furious Spanish rivals will meet each other at the Camp Nou on Monday, October 26, with the game scheduled to kick off at 07:00 AEST.

Quick Picks

Our pick: Barcelona to win

Value bet: Barcelona And Draw

Long shot: BTTS not hitting

Betting Preview

Barcelona lead the La Liga standings, the only team unbeaten through the first nine games of the season. Hansi Flick’s side have won each of their games, building a significant 5-point gap over Real’s city neighbours, Atletico Madrid.

Real Madrid find themselves a point further back on 21 (six behind), with Jose Mourinho having already witnessed his side lose twice in his return to the club.

This game won’t have been made any easier after Vinicius Jr was shown a red card and subsequently suspended for four games following his hair pull in the win against Villarreal.

They managed to get through their game against Sevilla without him unscathed (a 4-1 victory), but Barcelona is a different proposition.

Barca won’t enter the game in exactly the best shape, though. Eric Garcia is confirmed unavailable, while Jules Kounde could also be missing. On a more positive note, they could call upon Raphinha and Frenkie de Jong for this clash.

Still, both will have to make sure they are ready following Champions League action earlier in the week.

Barca lost 4-2 away to PSG, while Real took on RB Leipzig the following night. Could that extra day’s rest/preparation help Barcelona? Mourinho might have a thought or two on it…

Betting Markets to Watch

Despite the differences in form and perhaps justifiably so, the latest La Liga odds have Barcelona as the favourite. However, what’s striking is how short their price is and how long Real Madrid’s is in the moneyline.

Still, it’s not all that surprising, given what has been happening recently for both sides.

Over the last five H2Hs, Barca lead 3-2, winning the two played at home. Madrid haven’t enjoyed being the visitors in recent years, but this is a Mourinho-led team.

Barcelona And Draw, a selection in the win draw win market, has a slightly shorter price than the moneyline, but covers two of the most probable outcomes.

Goals are often scored when these two teams meet. Four of the last five have seen the Over 2.5 Goals market hit, although the previous meeting didn’t. Only two of these five have seen one team score, both being Barcelona.

With players like Lamine Yamal and Kylian Mbappe on the field, goals are likely, making Over 2.5 and BTTS likely to hit. The 'Over 2.5 Goals' market has hit in each of Barcelona's last seven La Liga matches.

Over 3.5 Goals for those more adventurous could have value, as it hit twice, but it doesn’t show a steady rise in value that would be justifiable.

Both of these forwards sit among the highest paid athletes in the world, and it is worth watching whether their quality decides this one.

Our Prediction

Our prediction is for a Barcelona win.

Our long shot is in the BTTS not hitting. Barcelona have kept four clean sheets so far this season. Real Madrid have been held goalless just once (a 1-0 defeat to Real Betis). Still, it’s happened twice in the last five El Clásico meetings.
