Vinicius Jr has sensationally emerged as a transfer target for Arsenal amid his ongoing contract standoff with Real Madrid.

The Brazilian superstar has entered the final 12 months of his deal with the La Liga giants, but has so far refused to agree to new terms with the club.

Real Madrid have continued to try and get him to sign a new deal, but the 26-year-old winger has continued to stand firm in his decision not to.

Arsenal On High Alert

According to reports that have been published recently, Arsenal are said to be one of the many teams that have been put on high alert about Vini Jr’s future.

It is claimed the Gunners would be prepared to break the bank to sign the Brazilian winger, breaking their wage structure to sign him if they have the opportunity to do so.

It is worth noting that any interest that is being rumoured is just ‘exploratory’ at this stage, although there’s a real suggestion that something could come to fruition if the situation remains the same.

Given that he is in the last 12 months of his contract, Real Madrid could be forced to cash in on him in this window if they don’t want to lose him for free. Clubs outside of Spain can open discussions with him when he has six months remaining and agree to a pre-contract, allowing him to move for free at the expiration of his current deal.

Some cynics, however, state that Vinicius Jr is simply stalling on a new contract at Real Madrid in order to get an improved offer from the Spanish giants.

Why Vini Jr Would Work At Arsenal

It’s hard to think that Vinicius Jr wouldn’t fit in at many teams, but that’s not a fear Arsenal would have.

Mikel Arteta is known to want to strengthen the left-hand side of the field, especially after the departure of Leandro Trossard and the mixed form of Gabriel Martinelli.

Vini Jr would significantly improve their left wing options, despite the arrival of Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge. The Greek signed after an impressive campaign that saw him score 17 goals and provide 23 assists in 36 league matches, and has already impressed during pre-season.

Brazilian Vini Jr was arguably his country’s standout star in a poor World Cup campaign, scoring four goals in five matches (one assist) before being knocked out in the Round of 16 by Norway.

He also had 16 goals in 36 La Liga matches, with five assists in what was a disappointing campaign for Real Madrid. In the Champions League, he had five goals and six assists in 14 matches before being eliminated by Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals.
