Melbourne Storm vs Sydney Roosters Prediction – Round 13 2026
27/05/2026|Joel Caine|NRL Expert Predictions & Tips
The Melbourne Storm will look to keep their fading finals hopes alive when they host the Sydney Roosters at AAMI Park on Saturday night.
Melbourne has slipped back to 15th on the ladder following last Friday’s 30-20 loss to Canterbury, leaving Craig Bellamy’s side with little room for error across the second half of the campaign.
Despite sitting low on the ladder, opposition teams will still be wary of facing a wounded Melbourne side fighting to revive its season.
Meanwhile, the Roosters had a bye in Round 12 after an 18-12 loss to North Queensland the week prior.
Both clubs face the challenge of backing up several Origin representatives, with Bellamy naming Cameron Munster, Harry Grant and Trent Loiero to play, while Trent Robinson has also named all six of his Origin stars in the starting side.
Billy Smith returns for the Roosters in place of the injured Daniel Tupou. These sides split their two meetings last season, so how will this one play out?
Let’s find out! For the latest news, odds and analysis ahead of the latest instalment of this recent rivalry, check out our Storm vs Roosters tips and predictions below.
Storm vs Roosters Prediction and Betting Tips
Head-to-Head Prediction
This Round 13 clash between the Melbourne Storm and the Sydney Roosters will very much be decided by who does and does not back up from Origin I.
With the likes of Tedesco, Robson, Radley, Toia, Munster, Walker, Grant, Collins and Loiero all set to represent either QLD or NSW, meaning both coaches will be sweating on each and every collision on Wednesday night.
With the Roosters having six players selected, it’s very unlikely all of them will be able to back up. Meanwhile we can’t see the Storm resting the likes of Munster and Grant if they remain healthy, due to their need to win games to make the finals.
Put this all together with the home ground advantage of AAMI Park and a Melbourne upset could just be the way to go.
Betting tip: Melbourne Storm.
First Try Scorer Prediction
Should he back up from Origin I, Roosters skipper James Tedesco presents as a very viable option for this market.
In scintillating form over the last 18 months, Tedesco has scored at least one try in each of Sydney's last four matches against opponents that were ranked in the bottom four and is a huge shout for first try scorer here should he escape Origin unscathed.
Betting tip: James Tedesco.

Betting tip: Over (49.5) total match points.
Line Prediction
The away team has covered the line in seven of Sydney's last eight matches.
Betting tip: Roosters (-1.5) line.
