Cronulla Sharks vs New Zealand Prediction – Round 5 2026

02/04/2026|SB Staff|NRL Expert Predictions & Tips

The Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks host the high-flying Warriors at Shark Park this Sunday in a pivotal Round 5 clash.

The Warriors currently sit in second place on the ladder, while the home side is looking to climb from ninth.

The Sharks hold the historical upper hand, winning 27 of their 47 previous meetings. However, the Warriors have been incredibly efficient this season. The away side boasts an impressive 83% completion rate and has conceded just 68 points so far, compared to the Sharks' 96 points.

Both squads see significant lineup changes this week. Briton Nikora headlines the inclusions for the Sharks, joined by Jayden Berrell, Mawene Hiroti, and Michael Gabrael. Chris Vea'ila is the sole omission for the home side.

Meanwhile, the Warriors welcome Ali Leiataua, Alofiana Khan-Pereira, Eddie Ieremia-Toeava, and Morgan Gannon into their squad. However, not for the first time this season they will be without NSW representative Mitchell Barnett.

For the latest news, odds and analysis ahead of this Sunday showdown, check out our Sharks vs Warriors tips and predictions below.

Sharks vs Warriors Prediction and Betting Tips

Head-to-Head Prediction

This is why we don’t trust the Warriors! Just as we fully boarded the Warriors bandwagon, they get blindsided by the Tigers of all teams! In New Zealand no less!

Now, as they travel to face the Sharks, the question is, do we revert back to our old ways of writing them? Or stick strong?

The odds say we should swim with the Sharks, but recent history says it’s time to cling onto that bandwagon for dear life.

The Warriors have won four of their last five against Cronulla and if former Shark turned certified gun Luke Metcalf can properly gel with the inform Tanah Boyd, they’re every chance of returning to the winner’s circle here.

Betting tip: New Zealand Warriors.

First Try Scorer Prediction

Even though he recently announced he would be departing the Warriors at season’s end for the Super League, we are expecting Rocking Roger Tuivasa-Sheck to put on a show before he goes.

That includes opening the scoring here. Cronulla’s recent defensive habits add extra impetus to selecting Sheck, as in each of the Sharks’ last three matches, the opposition's starting left wing has scored a try.

Betting tip: Roger Tuivasa-Sheck.

Over/Under Prediction

Each of New Zealand's last six matches in Sydney have gone over the total match points line.

Betting tip: Over (47.5) total match points.

Line Prediction

Cronulla has covered the line in seven of their last eight home matches.

Betting tip: Sharks (-4.5) line.
