Shark Park will see a mouth-watering clash to close out a super Saturday of footy as the Cronulla Sharks host the Melbourne Storm in a matchup that has produced plenty of fireworks over the past decade.

This will be the first time these two sides will meet in the Shire since 2022 – a match Cronulla won 28-6. Location could once again play a huge part here as the Sharks have won four of their last five against the Storm at this venue.

Both sides are coming off victories, with Cronulla hoping to notch three straight wins for the first time this year after double-digit results over Parramatta and Manly.

The Storm put in the most complete performance of the season last start, refusing to give the Tigers an inch-winning 64-0, in a world-class rout headlined by a four-try explosion from Ryan Papenhuyzen.

On the player front, there’s just one change for both sides, with Cronulla’s Siosifa Talakai coming in for the injured Tom Hazelton, and Tui Kamikamica replacing Nelson Asofa-Solomona for Melbourne.

Here’s how both of these sides will line up for this clash, as well as some betting tips for the H2H, first try scorer, and over/under markets. This is our Sharks vs Storm prediction.

Sharks vs Storm Teams

Cronulla Sharks Team List

1. Will Kennedy

2. Samuel Stonestreet

3.
Sharks vs Storm Prediction and Betting Tips

Head-to-Head Prediction

What a game we have here. Easily the headline match of NRL round 11, Cronulla will take on the formidable task of welcoming the Melbourne Storm to Shark Park on Saturday night.

This isn’t just any Storm side, this is a Storm side coming off a 64-0 demolition job of the Wests Tigers.

Melbourne No.1 Ryan Papenhuyzen was the chief tormenter, running in four tires and kicking 10/11 conversions, for a personal points haul of 36.

It’s no surprise there are now calls for him to be selected at fullback for NSW ahead of both incumbent Dylan Edwards and former Blues skipper James Tedesco.

There’s another player participating in this match, however, that on form also has equal claim to that famous jersey.

Sharks’ custodian Will Kennedy has been enjoying a stellar season in the Shire and finds himself outright first in the race for the Dally M after 10 rounds.

It would take a superhuman effort to stop this Storm side, but where there’s a Will, there’s a way. Is a Cronulla upset on the cards? Unfortunately, we just can’t bring ourselves to tip it. Melbourne in a classic.

Betting tip: Melbourne Storm.

First Try Scorer Prediction

There’s a few things going for our pick for first try scorer here. Firstly, Ryan Papenhuyzen has scored a try in each of his last eight appearances with Melbourne as an away favourite.

Secondly, he scored the first try of the match last week, and the second, and the third. He also added a fourth just after half time for good measure.

With this kind of try scoring form, it’s almost impossible to pick anyone but Papi for this market.

Betting tip: Ryan Papenhuyzen.

Over/Under Prediction

After the Storm cooked up 64 points on their own last week, it’s going to be very tough to tip the under total match points here.

Cronulla have also shown in recent weeks they love a double-digit firefight, so we’re backing both of these teams to combine for more than 46.5 points on Saturday night.

Betting tip: Over total match points.

Sharks vs Storm Match Details

Date: Saturday, May 17, 2025.

Kick-off: 7:35pm AEST.

Location: Shark Park, Sydney.
