All of a sudden, things aren’t quite right at the foot of the mountains. Two losses on the spin and a nasty head knock to star man Nathan Cleary have the Panthers in a precarious position heading into this showdown with the Rabbitohs.

Can they return to the winner’s circle without their main man, against a Bunnies cohort that were well below standard last week?

History would suggest so, with Penrith winning each of their last three matches following an away loss by a margin of 13+ points.

Will they muster another massive win after a loss away? Or will master coach Wayne Bennett smell blood in the water and get his Rabbitohs’ side right up for this one?

Let’s take a look at how these two teams will line up this weekend along with some betting tips for the H2H, first try scorer and over/under markets. This is our Rabbitohs vs Panthers prediction.

Rabbitohs vs Panthers Prediction and Betting Tips

Head-to-Head Prediction

The South Sydney Rabbitohs and the Penrith Panthers get the honour of opening up NRL round 4.

The Rabbits ran into a real side last week and were swiftly condemned to their first defeat of the season.

Penrith should provide more problems for Wayne Bennett’s men, however there could be value in backing a Red and Green upset.

After suffering a category 1 concussion just eight minutes into his side's match with Melbourne last week, Nathan Cleary will be forced to sit this one out, which could swing things in Souths’ favour.

The Panthers still have plenty of talented players, but after losing two on the spin and without their star man, as well as NSW fullback Dylan Edwards who is expected to still be sidelined, things could finally be unravelling at the foot of the mountains.

Betting tip: South Sydney Rabbitohs.

First Try Scorer Prediction

Whoever lines up on the Rabbitohs left wing is usually a good shout for this market, when that man is second highest try scorer in NRL history, they become a REALLY good shout.

Try scoring phenom Alex Johnston has returned early from an achilles injury and takes his rightful place on the Bunnies’ left wing.

What better way to celebrate your return from a long lay off than to cross for an early meat pie and move one step closer to catching the late, great Ken Irvine.

Betting tip: Alex Johnston.

Over/Under Prediction

Each of the last four matches between the South Sydney Rabbitohs and the Penrith Panthers at Accor Stadium have gone over the total match points line that has been set here.

That line is 49.5 points, so if history is to be repeated, as we are tipping it will, get ready for a high-scoring and entertaining affair.

Betting tip: Over total match points.
