NRL Tips and Predictions – Round 4

24/03/2025|Joel Caine|NRL Expert Predictions & Tips

As we stand on the precipice of NRL round 4, foolproof form lines remain far from defined.

Only at the very, very top and very, very bottom of the standings, can consistency be found.

The Storm and the Bulldogs have announced themselves as the teams to beat in 2025, while Parra, North Queensland and the Dolphins have ousted themselves as this season’s strugglers.

As for all the other 12 teams that make up the NRL, it seems to be a case of anyone can beat anyone.

With another slew of compelling matchups on the cards this week, it’s time to dust off the crystal ball and wheel out our NRL round 4 tips and predictions.

For the latest footy news, odds, analysis and betting advice, check out our NRL round 4 tips and predictions.

South Sydney Rabbitohs vs Penrith Panthers Prediction

Thursday, March 27, 8:00pm AEDT – Stadium Australia

The South Sydney Rabbitohs and the Penrith Panthers get the honour of opening up NRL round 4.

The Rabbits ran into a real side last week and were swiftly condemned to their first defeat of the season.

Penrith should provide more problems for Wayne Bennett’s men, however there could be value in backing a Red and Green upset.

After suffering a category 1 concussion just eight minutes into his side's match with Melbourne last week, Nathan Cleary will be forced to sit this one out, which could swing things in Souths’ favour.

The Panthers still have plenty of talented players, but after losing two on the spin and without their star man, things could finally be unravelling at the foot of the mountains.

Head-to-head prediction: South Sydney Rabbitohs.

Betting tip: Jack Wighton anytime try scorer.

Sydney Roosters vs Gold Coast Titans Prediction

Friday, March 28, 6:00pm AEDT – Allianz Stadium

Two teams who appear as though they are going to be the kings of inconsistency this year, face off here.

Both the Roosters and the Titans seem more than happy to trade the sublime for the ridiculous on any given week in 2025.

That makes this game hard to get a read on. However, the way the Titans held out the, at the time, undefeated Knights last week, makes us want to side with them.

Head-to-head prediction: Gold Coast Titans.

Betting tip: Keano Kini first try scorer.

The Dolphins vs Brisbane Broncos Prediction

Friday, March 28, 8:00pm AEDT – Suncorp Stadium

How good is Payne Haas? Well, good enough to become the first ever front rower to win the Dally M, should he keep this up.

His form and figures over the opening three rounds of footy have been otherworldly and last week against the Cowboys he somehow went to another level.

The Dolphins will be the latest team tasked to stop him and the Broncos, but after an 0-3 start, all resistance appears futile here.

Head-to-head prediction: Brisbane Broncos.

Betting tip: Payne Haas anytime try scorer.

St George Illawarra Dragons vs Melbourne Storm Prediction

Saturday, March 29, 3:00pm AEDT – Jubilee Stadium

It will be interesting to see how much a week off will have helped St George as they go searching for their first win of the season.

In true Dragon’s fashion an off season full of hype and hope has given way to nothing but disappointment. To make matters worse, the table-topping Melbourne Storm await this weekend.

Even with reigning Dally M Medallist Jahrome Hughes sidelined with a broken hand, the Storm have the very capable Tyran Wishart ready to deputise and should have far too much quality for the winless Dragons.

Head-to-head prediction: Melbourne Storm.

Betting tip: Tyran Wishart anytime try scorer.

North Queensland Cowboys vs Canberra Raiders Prediction

Saturday, March 29, 5:30pm AEDT – Queensland Country Bank Stadium

We’re earmarking this as the hardest game to tip in NRL round 4. Yes, the Cowboys are winless, but they are home and did go down swinging against Brisbane last start.

The Raiders on the other hand looked like the surprise packet of the season, riding high with back-to-back wins to start the season. Then they ran into Manly at Brookvale.

Being down 40-0 after 53 minutes makes us want to steer well clear from any affiliation with the Green Machine this week.

Usually for coinflips like this, we turn to the H2H odds. But what do you know, at the time of writing, both sides are exactly a 1.92.

The only real difference we can find between these is home ground advantage. Cowboys to pinch this by a point or two in a low-scoring thriller.

Head-to-head prediction: North Queensland Cowboys.

Betting tip: Murray Taulagi first try scorer.

Cronulla Sharks vs Canterbury Bulldogs Prediction

Saturday, March 29, 7:35pm AEDT – Shark Park

There’s no doubt that this is the headline game of NRL round 4. Two teams tipped for the top four come season’s end, both the Sharks and the Bulldogs have thoroughly impressed thus far.

It may be surprising to some to discover that the Sharks are heavy favourites here, despite the Bulldogs currently being undefeated.

Take a closer look however and you’ll find that Canterbury will be missing more than a few key personnel with star standoff Matt Burton among them.

At home, we do expect the Sharks to win and end the Bulldogs’ perfect record in 2025, but not as easily as the H2H odds suggest.

Head-to-head prediction: Cronulla Sharks.

Betting tip: Kayal Iro first try scorer.

Manly Sea Eagles vs Parramatta Eels Prediction

Sunday, March 30, 4:05pm AEDT – Brookvale Oval

Parramatta must be shaking in their boots after seeing what Manly did to Canberra last week.

No Tommy Turbo? No problem. Usually the fill-in fullback in Trbojevic’s absence, Reuben Garrick ran riot from his usual position of centre, while youngster Lehi Hopoate took care of the duties at the back

Canberra could only look on in horror as he ran in four tries on his own and kicked 6/7 conversions.

The Eels are up next on the chopping block and Garrick and co must be licking their lips after looking at Parra’s defensive record so far this season. This could get ugly.

Head-to-head prediction: Manly Sea Eagles.

Betting tip: Rueben Garrick two or more tries.

Wests Tigers vs New Zealand Warriors Prediction

Sunday, March 30, 6:15pm AEDT – Campbelltown Stadium

The Tigers in the top four? Yep, do not adjust your devices or your calendars. It really is 2025, not 2005 and the Wests Tigers really are in the top four.

They’re playing some lovely footy too, thanks largely to the contributions of Lachie Galvin, Api Koroisau and Sunia Turuva.

Koroisau in particular was at his craft best in last week’s win over the Dolphins and if he can help lead his side to a win against the rapidly rising Warriors, it’ll be Api days indeed out west.

Head-to-head prediction: Wests Tigers.

Betting tip: Api Koroisau anytime try scorer.

Newcastle Knights – BYE

After a disappointing defeat to the Titans that ended their unbeaten start to the season, Newcastle get a week off to return to the drawing board.

NRL 2025 Premiership Odds
