NRLW Tips & Predictions – Round 4

16/08/2024|SB Staff|NRL Expert Predictions & Tips

Just like that we’re a month into the new NRLW season. Time flies when you’re scoring tries and Rugby League’s top female players have certainly been doing that.

There should be more of the same in NRLW round 4 with some compelling match ups on the schedule.

Most notable is the game between top four heavyweights Newcastle and Cronulla, with the winner likely to be dubbed favourites for the premiership.

There are also four other fantastic games to look forward to in NRLW round 4, so let’s not waste any more time.

For the latest news, analysis, odds, and betting advice for all five upcoming games, check out our NRLW round 4 tips and predictions below.

Brisbane Broncos Women vs Canberra Raiders Women Prediction

Saturday, August 17, 11:00am AEST – Totally Workwear Stadium

Brisbane and Canberra get the ball rolling in NRLW round 4, starting Saturday with a showdown at Totally Workwear Stadium.

The Broncos picked up their first points of the season last week and in some style. They trounced the previously undefeated Titans 44-4 in a stunning return to form.

If that wasn’t enough fours for you, Brisbane centre Mele Hufanga crossed for, yep, four tries in the rout.

Off the back of a performance like this it’s impossible not to back the Broncs, particularly against a Raiders side who lost at home last week.

Head-to-head prediction: Brisbane Broncos Women.

Betting tip: Mele Hufanga two or more tires.

North Queensland Cowboys Women vs Gold Coast Titans Women Prediction

Saturday, August 17, 12:45pm AEST – Queensland Country Bank Stadium

The Titans will be looking to get their points differential back in shape in NRLW round 4 after last week’s 44-4 disaster against M1 rivals Brisbane.

They have the perfect opportunity to do so this week against the 9th placed Cowboys who currently have the second-worst defence in the competition.

We’re happy to chalk up last week's mishap to a one off, considering how impressive the girls from the Goldie were in their opening two.

However, there will be serious questions raised about their premiership credentials if they fail to win here.

Head-to-head prediction: Gold Coast Titans Women.

Betting tip: Big win little win – Titans 13+

St George Illawarra Dragons Women vs Sydney Roosters Women Prediction

Sunday, August 18, 12:00pm AEST – WIN Stadium

After upsetting reigning champs Newcastle last week, can the Dragons make it two high profile scalps in a row when they take on the high-flying Roosters?

It’ll be a tough ask, as the Chooks have shrugged of their early season injury woes to take up roost near the summit of the ladder

Leading lady Jess Sergis continues to deliver for us in the try scoring column and we’ll keep backing her for as long as she does.

The Dragons have plenty of firepower of their own such as Teagan Berry and Kimberley Hunt and should be able to give a good account of themselves here.

Ultimately though, we are tipping them to fall just short against a Roosters’ side who should occupy one of the top two spots on the ladder come seasons’ end.

Head-to-head prediction: Sydney Roosters Women.

Betting tip: Jess Sergis anytime try scorer.

Cronulla Sharks Women vs Newcastle Knights Women Prediction

Sunday, August 18, 1:45pm AEST – Shark Park

The headline game of NRLW round 4 sees the table topping Sharks take on the defending premiers the Newcastle Knights on Sunday arvo.

The first chink in the Knights premiership armour was exposed last week, as they recorded their first loss of the new season.

An 8-point loss to the Dragons ended the Novocastrians perfect start to the season, meaning only their opponents this week, Cronulla, are the only team remaining with a perfect record.

We’re tipping that record to remain intact, despite the efforts of Newcastle fullback Tamika Upton who seems to star, win, lose or draw.

Head-to-head prediction: Cronulla Sharks Women.

Betting tip: Tamika Upton first try scorer.

Wests Tigers Women vs Parramatta Eels Women Prediction

Sunday, August 18, 6:10pm AEST – Campbelltown Stadium

The final game of NRLW round 4 gives the recently revitalised Parramatta Eels the perfect opportunity to continue their 2024 revival.

After winning the wooden spoon last year they find themselves third a month into the new season.

The Eels new look blend of youth (Rory Owen) and experience (Rachael Pearson) have dramatically reversed their fortunes and facing off against the team who seems destined to take the spoon from them in 2024, we’re backing them to make it three wins out of four to start the new season.

Head-to-head prediction: Parramatta Eels Women.

Betting tip: SGM – Rory Owen and Rosemarie Beckett anytime try scorers.

NRLW 2024 Premiership Odds
