St George Illawarra Dragons vs Wests Tigers Prediction

Friday, June 7, 8:00pm AEST – Wollongong Showground

NRL round 14 gets underway with the ever hot and cold Dragons welcoming the always consistent Tigers to the Gong.

Unfortunately for Wests, their consistency comes in the form of being consistently terrible.

No matter who is in charge, on the field or what year it is, the Tigers never fail to find themselves near the foot of the ladder.

After the Dragons upset the mighty, albeit undermanned, Panthers last week, we give Wests little to no hope of winning this one away from home.

Head-to-head prediction: St George Illawarra Dragons.

Betting tip: Tyrell Sloan anytime try scorer.

Gold Coast Titans vs South Sydney Rabbitohs Prediction

Saturday, June 8, 3:00pm AEST – Robina Stadium

Before the bye these two terrible teams both recorded rare morale boosting wins, which makes this match up more exciting than it otherwise would have been.

The Titan’s win was the more miraculous of the two, pipping Premiership contenders and local rivals the Broncos by two points in a 36-34 shootout for the ages.

Surely a win of this magnitude gives them enough belief to overpower the bottom placed Bunnies who have more injuries than the members of the cast of Jackass.

They’re at home too. Making them nearly impossible not to tip in this one.

Head-to-head prediction: Gold Coast Titans.

Betting tip: Over total match points.

North Queensland Cowboys vs New Zealand Warriors Prediction

Saturday, June 8, 5:30pm AEST – Queensland Country Bank Stadium

Both the Cowboys and the Warriors are attempting to mount mid-season revivals after underachieving over the first 10 or so rounds.

The Wahs picked up impressive back-to-back scalps of the Panthers and the Dolphins before their bye last round.

Meanwhile the Cows made it three on the spin, with a gusty win over the Roosters down in Sydney last time out.

The recent form lines of both these sides make this one hard to call, but if North Queensland’s Origin stars manage to back up, they should be too good at home for the wounded Warriors.

Head-to-head prediction: North Queensland Cowboys.

Betting tip: Scott Drinkwater anytime try scorer.

Brisbane Broncos vs Cronulla Sharks Prediction

Saturday, June 8. 7:35pm AEST – Suncorp Stadium

Injuries and Origin has somewhat derailed what would have otherwise been a true heavyweight bout.

Both the Broncos and the Sharks have been flying in 2024 but have been severely undermanned in recent weeks.

The second-string Sharks were pumped by cellar dwellers Parramatta last week, while Brisbane got to have the week off.

Cronulla badly missed NSW No.7 Nicho Hynes against the Blue and Gold and as he is already under an injury cloud, we are highly doubtful he will feature in this game regardless of what happens on Wednesday night.

That makes the Broncos the easy tip in a game that would otherwise have been rather hard to pick.

Head-to-head prediction: Brisbane Broncos.

Betting tip: Ronaldo Mulitalo & Deine Mariner anytime try scorers.

Melbourne Storm vs Newcastle Knights Predictions

Sunday, June 9, 2:00pm AEST – AAMI Park

The Knights were borderline embarrassing in their defeat to the Bulldogs last week.

Their 30-point capitulation at home has made Melbourne must-tips in this one, despite having already lost once to the Novocastrians earlier this season.

Head-to-head prediction: Melbourne Storm.

Betting tip: Newcastle Knights to score 10 points or less.

Penrith Panthers vs Manly Sea Eagles Prediction

Sunday, June 9, 4:05pm AEST – Penrith Stadium

Penrith will be aiming to return to winning ways after their second-string side went down to a plucky St George side last time out.

Missing plenty of talent thanks to injury and Origin, Ivan Cleary’s side will be hoping to have more of their stars on deck for this one, in particular NSW No.6 Jarome Luai.

Manly are in a similar boat to the Panthers in terms of injuries and Origin absentees. If main man and Queensland skipper DCE can back up as he so often does, they’re in with a shot here, if not, it could be all one-way traffic at the foot of the mountains.

Head-to-head prediction: Penrith Panthers.

Betting tip: Big win little win – Panthers 1-12.

Canterbury Bulldogs vs Parramatta Eels Prediction

Monday, June 10, 4:00pm AEST – Stadium Australia

One of the oldest and fiercest rivalries in Rugby League concludes round 14 of the NRL.

There’s always drama when the Bulldogs play the Eels and this week should be no different, with both sides coming off impressive wins.

Parra welcomed back star duo Mitchell Moses and Clint Gutherson just in time to roll a second-string Sharks side, while the Doggies turned in their best performance of the season as they kept the Knights try-less on the road.

This is effectively a coin flip, and the odds nearly reflect this. There is just a little more value to be had in backing the Bulldogs and we believe their superior defence will see them home against the Eels in a thriller.

Head-to-head prediction: Canterbury Bulldogs.

Betting tip: Eels to score 10 points or less.

The Dolphins, Canberra Raiders & Sydney Roosters – BYE

After featuring in last week’s shortened bye round, the Phins, Green Machine and the Chooks all get to put their respective feet up this week and watch the rest of the competition, as well as both QLD and NSW, duke it out.
