NRL Match Review and Judiciary News – Round 13 Recap:
- Cronulla Sharks centre Jesse Ramien is facing a two-match suspension for a Grade 1 Dangerous Contact charge on Clayton Faulalo.
- Teammate Teig Wilton has also been cited for Grade 1 Dangerous Contact despite not being placed on report during the match.
- Bulldogs forward Sitili Tupouniua is staring down a two-match suspension after being hit with a Grade 1 Shoulder Charge.
- Roosters back-rower Siua Wong charged with Grade 1 Contrary Conduct despite being placed on report twice.
Ramien in Hot Water Over Faulalo Contact
The most significant headline from the Round 13 NRL judiciary findings centres on Jesse Ramien, who copped a Grade 1 Dangerous Contact charge for an incident involving Clayton Faulalo in the opening minute of play.
While a Grade 1 charge would normally carry a manageable financial penalty, Ramien's loaded record has thrown a spanner in the works.
As this is his third and subsequent offence within the relevant period, the Sharks centre is looking at:
- Early guilty plea: $3,000 fine and a two-match suspension.
- If found guilty at the panel: Two-match suspension.
There's no way for Ramien to fine his way out of this one, leaving Cronulla without one of their key outside backs for a fortnight of NRL action.
Wilton Cited After Fogarty Incident
Teig Wilton's charge has raised a few eyebrows around the rugby league community, given he wasn't placed on report during the actual contest.
The Match Review Committee cited the backrower on review for a Grade 1 Dangerous Contact incident involving Manly halfback Jamal Fogarty in the 20th minute.
With a clean record working in his favour, Wilton has a far more palatable set of options:
- Early guilty plea: $1,000 fine.
- If contested and found guilty: $1,500 fine.
Crucially, Wilton avoids any suspension threat, meaning Cronulla coach Craig Fitzgibbon won't be forced into a second forced reshuffle.
Tupouniua Facing the Sin Bin Treatment
The biggest casualty of the Round 13 NRL judiciary process is Tupouniua, whose Grade 1 Shoulder Charge on Heamasi Makasini in the 8th minute has landed him in serious strife.
While the offence itself sits at the lower end of the scale, his prior record means there's no fine option on the table.
- Early guilty plea: $3,000 fine (not available due to prior record threshold).
- If found guilty at the panel: Two-match suspension.
For the Bulldogs, losing the back-rower for a fortnight would be a significant blow as the competition heats up heading into the back half of the 2026 NRL season.
Wong Cops Single Charge Despite Double Report
Roosters forward Siua Wong was placed on report twice within the space of five minutes during Saturday's clash with the Storm, but the MRC has elected to charge him on just one count.
The Grade 1 Contrary Conduct charge stems from an incident involving Storm five-eighth Cameron Munster in the 70th minute.
- Early guilty plea: $1,800 fine.
- Contested outcome if guilty: $2,500 fine.
With no suspension on the line, the early plea looks the obvious play for the Tricolours.
Players Who Dodged the Bullet
Four players placed on report on Saturday have escaped without charge after the MRC's review:
- Tyson Frizell (Knights).
- Josh Curran (Bulldogs).
- Jack Hetherington (Storm).
- Reece Robson (Roosters).
A welcome reprieve for all four clubs, with Hetherington in particular avoiding what could have been another costly entry on his lengthy rap sheet.
