St George Illawarra Dragons vs Newcastle Knights Prediction – Round 10 2026

06/05/2026|SB Staff|NRL Expert Predictions & Tips

Hoping to make it lucky number 13, the St. George Illawarra Dragons will look to snap a 12-game losing streak when they host the Newcastle Knights at WIN Stadium.

The Dragons went into their bye last week on the back of a 62-16 thumping by the Roosters on ANZAC Day. Meanwhile, the Knights will be bouncing into this one coming off a superb 42-38 win over the Rabbitohs with stars Kalyn Ponga and Bradman Best getting through unscathed.

The Knights come into this weekend's clash with an unchanged starting 13 as they look to get their first win in Wollongong since 2011. The Dragons have got their co-captain back, with Clinton Gutherson named at fullback, pushing Tyrell Sloan to the extended bench.

Dylan Egan is set to play his first game of the season, replacing the suspended Luciano Leilua in the back row.

St. George Illawarra won 20-6 when these sides met in Round 13 last year and will be desperate for a repeat performance here. For the latest news, odds and analysis ahead of this one, check out our Dragons vs Knights tips and predictions below.

Dragons vs Knights Prediction and Betting Tips

Head-to-Head Prediction

Sorry Dragons fans, it’s back to reality this week. The good news is, you’re finally on the board. The bad news is, that wasn’t an NRL team you beat last week, that was the bye.

Don’t let the two points next to their name fool you, the Dragons are yet to register a single win this season.

Sometimes an organisation is just rotten to the core and requires a full rebuild, when that’s the case, it usually becomes all about damage limitation.

That will certainly be the order of the day for the Red V, when they welcome the Newcastle Knights to WIN Stadium on Saturday arvo.

Newcastle will be looking to continue their quest for a spot in the eight, after they saw off the Bunnies last week in a crazy 80-point shootout.

With a taste for tries on their tongue, expect them to run in more than a few on their way to victory over the dreadful Dragons.

Betting tip: Newcastle Knights.

First Try Scorer Prediction

After making it through his return last week unscathed and with Origin selection around the corner, we’re tipping Newcastle fullback Kalyn Ponga to make a statement early in this one.

In a two-horse race against Brisbane custodian Reece Walsh for the Queensland No.1 jersey, look to Ponga to send an early message to Maroons mentor Billy Slater on Saturday.

Ponga also enjoys plundering this particular opponent and has scored at least one try in each of his last four appearances against St. George Illawarra.

Betting tip: Kalyn Ponga.

Over/Under Prediction

Each of Newcastle's last four matches have gone over the total match points line.

Betting tip: Over (52.5) total match points.

Line Prediction

St. George Illawarra has failed to cover the line in each of their last six home matches.

Betting tip: Knights (-9.5) line.
