The Dolphins vs Penrith Panthers Prediction - Round 7 2026

15/04/2026|SB Staff|NRL Expert Predictions & Tips

The Penrith Panthers head into round 7 with a point to prove, having suffered their first loss of the season at the hands of a fired-up Bulldogs side in round 6, ending what had been a dominant unbeaten start to the 2026 campaign.

The Dolphins, meanwhile, come into the game refreshed after a bye week, though questions remain over their consistency after being dismantled 52-18 by the Sea Eagles in round 5.

It shapes as a fascinating contest between two teams heading in very different directions, with Nathan Cleary and Isaiya Katoa set to go head-to-head in what could be a decisive halfback battle at TIO Stadium in Darwin.

The Panthers will be boosted by the return of centre Izack Tago for his 100th NRL game, though they must navigate the absence of star back-rower Liam Martin through injury, adding a layer of intrigue to an already compelling Friday night fixture, as well as missing Casey McLean due to suspension.

The Dolphins vs Panthers Prediction and Betting Tips

Head-to-Head Prediction

Penrith hold a commanding record against the Dolphins in their short-lived contests, and despite their shock round six loss to the Bulldogs, the Panthers have shown enough class this season to suggest that defeat was nothing more than a blip.

The Dolphins have the attacking firepower to trouble any side of their day, with Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow and Herbie Farnworth dangerous out wide, but their inconsistency in the opening stages of games remains a major concern heading into this clash.

Penrith’s Friday night record under Ivan Cleary is the stuff of legend, winning 78% of their night games since 2020, and a trip to Darwin, a venue the Panthers have visited before, is unlikely to derail a side with premiership aspirations.

We predict the Panthers to take control of the game in what looms as a polished response performance, particularly against a Dolphins middle that was torn apart two weeks ago against the Sea Eagles.

Betting tip: Penrith Panthers.

First Try Scorer Prediction

The Dolphins have struggled with their defence all season, and it could open up the Panthers attack to go out wide and find Brian To’o, who is one of two players so far this season for Penrith to score the first try of the game.

Betting tip: Brian To'o.

Over/Under Prediction

Seven of the Dolphins' last eight home matches have gone over the total match points line, and their weaknesses in defence could be exposed quickly and let the Panthers find rhythm and confidence.

Betting tip: Over (52.5) total match points).

Line Prediction

Penrith has covered the line in five of its last six matches.

Betting tip: Panthers (-14.5) line.
