The Canterbury Bulldogs and St George Illawarra Dragons are set to clash under the bright lights of Las Vegas at Allegiant Stadium, to round out the NRL's American double-header showcase on Sunday.

This Las Vegas encounter represents more than just Round 1 points for both clubs. Canterbury has demonstrated consistent improvement over the past two seasons and will want to use this fixture to remind everyone that they are genuine premiership contenders.

The Bulldogs' progression under Ciraldo has been methodical, and a statement victory in America would signal their readiness for a more composed title charge this time around

The Dragons, conversely, are desperate to return to finals football for the first time since 2018. Captain Clint Gutherson leads a squad that challenged the competition's elite last season but ultimately fell short due to their inability to convert close contests into victories.

With both teams fielding strong lineups and the global spotlight of Las Vegas providing additional motivation, this clash promises to deliver the entertainment value expected from the NRL's American venture.

Bulldogs vs Dragons Prediction and Betting Tips

Head-to-Head Prediction

The second and final Vegas game of NRL Round 1 features the Canterbury Bulldogs and the St George Illawarra Dragons.

The Bulldogs were unable to convert their impressive regular season into finals success last season, but you get the feeling they're getting closer and closer to breaking their premiership drought.

Start recruit Lachlan Galvin should now be properly integrated after a full pre-season with his new club and most of the heat from his acrimonious mid-season switch from the Tigers should have dissipated.

On the other side of the field, just when you think the Dragons have hit rock bottom, they find a way to keep digging.

They started the year with an embarrassing loss in the Charity Shield to a second-string Rabbitohs side that has only dampened their already soaking spirits, and the bad news just keeps coming for the Red V.

Their recent head-to-head record against the Bulldogs is enough to wipe away the last shred of confidence from even the most staunch St George supporter. Of the last five matches the Dragons have played against Canterbury, they’ve lost every single one.

This is a stat line that for us is simply impossible to ignore, we’ll be backing the Bulldogs here, by a comfortable margin.

Betting tip: Canterbury Bulldogs.

First Try Scorer Prediction

There was one bloke last season that became a real favourite of ours in this market and that was Canterbury’s Jacob Preston.

Who doesn’t love a try scoring forward? Preston finished 2025 as his side’s top try scorer, crossing the stripe 12 times.

He has also scored a try in each of Canterbury's last three matches as a favourite outside of Sydney and last time we checked Las Vegas was as far outside of Sydney as you can get.

Betting tip: Jacob Preston.

Over/Under Prediction

Six of St. George Illawarra's last seven matches outside of Australia have gone under the total match points line.

Betting tip: Under (38.5) total match points.
