Sportsbet’s 2025 edition of Try July got off to a blistering start last week, with no less than 20 post-try celebrations being wheeled out by players across both the NRL and NRLW. That means, there’s already been $100,000 raised for our beneficiaries this year and there’s plenty more where that came from*

For those that missed it, from Thursday 3 July to Sunday 27 July, every single try celebration across the NRL, NRLW, and State of Origin Game III Sportsbet will donate $5,000 to two incredible causes: the Australian Skin Cancer Foundation (ASCF) and the Player Hardship Fund.

This year also marks a first for Try July, as NRLW players get a full four rounds to join in the fun. That means even more tries, more celebrations, and more donations – all while showcasing the unstoppable spirit of rugby league’s rising stars across both the men’s and women’s games.

Players have already wasted no time in breaking out the celebrations during week one of Try July 2025, adding an extra $100,000 to the $1.4 million that has been raised since Try July started back in 2020.

Remember the Titans – Georgia Grey

This one deserves bonus points. Gold Coast centre Georgia Grey and her teammates celebrated their first try of the new NRLW season by mimicking the iconic team dance from the Denzel Washington classic Remember the Titans.

Tying your Try July celebration to the name of your club? Bravo.

The Piggy Riddell – Zali Hopkins

Another cracker from the opening round of the NRLW. Zali Hopkins decided to honour one of the Dragon’s favourite sons, Mark ‘Piggy’ Riddell, by copying his iconic celebration.

Selfie Time – Caitlin Turnbull

But first, let me take a selfie. Tigers’ winger Caitlin Turnbull celebrated a four-pointer by using the footy as a makeshift camera. Say cheese!

Double Trouble – Nick Meaney

Perhaps no player got around the first week of Try July as much as Melbourne centre Nick Meaney.

He celebrated both of his tries against the Cowboys with two hilarious and unique celebrations, ensuring an extra $10,000 would be heading to the ASCF and Players Hardship Fund. Well done, Nick.

Take a Bow – Kaeo Weekes

Simple, yet effective. Young Raiders tearaway Kaeo Weekes took a bow his three-try performance against the Dragons deserved.

The Walking Stick – Daly Cherry-Evans

Proving age is just a number, Sea Eagles skipper Daly Cherry-Evans decided to have a crack at his own veteran status by using the corner post as a walking stick after crossing for a try.
