NRL Judiciary News – Round 20 Recap:

- Eight players from four clubs have been charged by the NRL Match Review Committee following Saturday night's Round 20 fixtures.

- Wests Tigers were hit hardest, with four players facing fines or suspensions, including Latu Fainu on the most serious charge of the round.

- Latu Fainu faces a two-match ban with an early guilty plea for a Grade 3 Dangerous Contact charge on Newcastle's Leo Thompson.

- Canberra's Owen Pattie, Ethan Strange and David Fifita were also among those cited across Saturday's action.

Tigers Take the Biggest Hit

The Wests Tigers are the biggest losers from the weekend, with four players in hot water. 

Heamasi Makasini copped a Grade 1 Careless High Tackle charge on Connor Tracey in the 13th minute, carrying a $1,000 fine with an early plea, or $1,500 if unsuccessfully contested at the panel.

Adam Doueihi was cited for a Grade 2 Careless High Tackle on Harry Hayes in the 54th minute, facing a one-match suspension with an early guilty plea, jumping to two matches if he loses at the hearing.

Alex Twal rounds out the Tigers contingent, charged with Grade 1 Contrary Conduct on Jaeman Salmon in the 70th minute. As a second offence, he's looking at a heavier $1,800 fine for an early plea or $2,500 if found guilty at a panel hearing.

Latu Fainu Faces the Most Serious Charge

The headline suspension of the round belongs to Tigers utility Latu Fainu, who was served a Grade 3 Dangerous Contact charge on Newcastle prop Leo Thompson in the 64th minute. 

Fainu tackled low at Thompson's legs and flipped him over, despite never grabbing or lifting the front rower.

He faces a two-match ban with an early guilty plea, which could jump to three matches if contested unsuccessfully.

Rugby league legend Andrew Johns was critical of the charge on Nine's Sunday Footy Show, questioning where the line is drawn.

"We're so paranoid about hitting players in the head now," Johns said. "It looks awkward, he goes low and makes the tackle low, and unfortunately, Leo Thompson gets in a bit of a dangerous position. 

What's he done wrong? He's done nothing wrong … you can't take accidents out of the game."

Raiders Trio Also in Trouble

Canberra didn't escape the MRC's attention either. Dummy-half Owen Pattie was charged with a Grade 2 Dangerous Contact in the 20th minute involving Keaon Koloamatangi. 

Despite being his first offence, he's facing a one-match suspension with an early guilty plea, or two if challenged and lost.

Ethan Strange was cited for a Grade 1 Careless High Tackle on Campbell Graham in the 32nd minute, a first offence carrying a $1,000 fine ($1,500 contested).

David Fifita rounds out the Raiders trio with a Grade 2 Dangerous Contact charge for an incident involving Hudson Young in the 41st minute, mirroring Pattie's one-match sanction.

Bulldogs' Tuala Fined

Bulldogs forward Enari Tuala picked up a Grade 1 Careless High Tackle charge on Jahream Bula in the 40th minute. 

Despite being a first offence, Tuala isn't eligible for the standard three-year discount, copping a $750 fine with an early plea or $1,000 if found guilty at a hearing.

Notably, no players from the Warriors versus Dragons clash were charged.
