Tuxedos at the ready, get the champagne on ice, award season is upon us! As we roll into a new year, the best of the best in movies, TV and music over the last 12 months are set to be honoured across a slew of ceremonies.

Up first are the Golden Globes! Seen as the precursor to the Oscars, the Globes give a glimpse into which films and stars could be set to sweep the season ahead.

The nominations are in, with a few solid shocks and surprises in there, as well as a trio of Aussie acknowledgments.

Being nominated is one thing, winning is another. With that in mind let’s take a look at which films, directors, thespians and more are in pole position to pick up a Golden Globe early next year. Here are our 2026 Golden Globes predictions and betting tips.

Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy Prediction

It’s looking like it could very much be one win after another this award season for Paul Thomas Anderson’s latest masterpiece.

Starring Hollywood’s main man Leonardo Di Caprio, “One Battle After Another” blends sharp comedic timing with a surprisingly heartfelt examination of ambition and ego, creating the type of high-energy crowd-pleaser the Globes often reward.

It’s the favourite here as well as for Best Picture at the Oscars. Ping-pong thriller (yes, you read that right), “Marty Supreme” remains its biggest challenger for both awards.

Betting tip: One Battle After Another.

Best Motion Picture – Drama Prediction

Unlike the Oscars, the Golden Globes separates Best Picture into two different awards. One for musicals and comedies and one for dramas.

That means certain films here won’t have to contend with the dominating presence of One Battle After Another, as they will at the Academy Awards.

We’re backing the adaptation of “Hamnet” to make the most of this, and swoop in and collect the award for best Drama Motion Picture.

An emotionally devastating portrait of grief and creativity, “Hamnet” is Shakespeare like you’ve never seen it, focusing on the literary great himself.

Betting tip: Hamnet.

Best Director Prediction

Naturally it would make sense to align our Best Director prediction with either One Battle After Another of Hamnet.

While both PTA and Chloe Zhao are in with a legitimate shot, we’re actually opting for a third option here.

Often celebrated for his ability to marry mythic storytelling with nuanced character work, legendary director Guillermo del Toro does all that and more with his latest masterpiece.

Del Toro’s retelling of the classic “Frankenstein” is a masterclass in visual mastery and atmospheric world building and puts him in pole position to nab the Golden Globe for Best Director.

Betting tip: Guillermo del Toro.

Best Performance by a Male Actor – Musical or Comedy Prediction

A truly supreme showing from Hollywood’s resident young gun, Timothee Chalamet, has him in pole position for this Golden Globe.

Portraying the obsessive, unrelenting and unhinged ping-pong prodigy Marty Mauser in Josh Safdie’s “Marty Supreme”, Chalamet could be about to smash home the winner and take home Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Musical and Comedy.

Betting tip: Timothee Chalamet.

Best Performance by a Male Actor – Drama Prediction

The Golden Globe for Best Performance by a Male Actor – Drama has in recent years been awarded for the portrayals of both Freddie Mercury and Elvis, could we be about to see Bruce Springsteen be added to that list?

Rami Malek won in 2018 for his turn as Queen’s charismatic frontman, while Austin Butler did the same in 2022 after playing the King.

Jeremy Allen White is up this year for playing the Boss and seeing how much the Globes historically favour roles like this; we simply have to get behind him.

Betting tip: Jeremy Allen White.

Best Performance by a Female Actor – Musical or Comedy Prediction

A previous winner in this category has caught our eye and it’s not hard to see why.

Emma Stone’s versatility and comedic instinct have created significant buzz around her role in “Bugonia” and we’re jumping on the bandwagon.

Already a Globe winner for this very award thanks her showing in “Poor Things” a few years back, Stone delivers another performance that’s both wildly funny and unexpectedly strange

The Globes often reward performers who embrace risk and reinvention, and Emma Stone’s character in “Bugonia” pushes her yet again into gleefully eccentric territory.

Betting tip: Emma Stone.

Best Performance by a Female Actor – Drama Prediction

There is a very clear frontrunner for this award and it’s Jessie Buckley. She delivered a shattering performance as a mother grappling with overwhelming loss in “Hamnet”

Buckley has earned a reputation for fearless, deeply lived-in roles, and this character seems poised to be one of her most affecting thanks to the emotional clarity and raw physical expressiveness she brought to the role.

Betting tip: Jessie Buckley.
