Welcome to Super Bowl LX and we’ve got a real choose your own adventure here, folks.

The quarterback who was written off by all or the quarterback who has been here five minutes? Take your pick.

Drake Maye is a 23-year-old who will become the second youngest starting QB in Super Bowl history, whilst Sammy Darnold arrives on the biggest stage after unsuccessful stints in New York, Carolina and San Francisco plus backing up in San Francisco.

His stop in Minnesota was very successful, with a 14-win regular season before crashing back to earth in the playoffs.

Surprisingly, the Vikings said no to Darnold and went with JJ McCarthy, paving the way for the former USC Trojan to arrive as a Seahawk.

However, in reality, this game is likely to be less about these quarterbacks and more about elite defences, play makers on offence surrounding the QB and two masterful head coaches.

Mike Vrabel has been a successful head coach in Tennessee. He led them to an AFC Championship game way back when with Ryan Tannehill at the helm.

Stunningly, Tennessee went elsewhere and look where that landed them. In his first season as New England boss, he’s taken them to a Super Bowl, meaning they now are the most improved team in NFL history. Four wins last season, 17 and counting this season.

Mike MacDonald, ironically born in Boston, has been in charge in Seattle for two seasons. He’s a defensive coach leading the most explosive and amped defence in the game.

11 years ago, we saw these two franchises go head-to-head in Glendale, Arizona. The infamous clash which ended with the Seahawks deciding to throw the ball on the goal line despite having All-Pro RB Marshawn Lynch.

Malcolm Butler undercut the route and made an all-time interception to seal victory and seal his own name into Super Bowl legend.

That was then, this is now… here’s how we see things panning out. They rank #1 for points allowed and 3rd down conversions against. In basic terms, you cannot score on them, and you cannot move the ball on key downs.

This defence is #1 for yards per rush attempt and rushing TD against. It’s borderline impossible to carry the rock.

They also possess the most prolific receiver this season in the NFL in Jaxon SMITH-NJIGBA. He caught 119 balls this regular season for 1,793 yards and 10 scores. His match-up with Christian GONZALEZ will be mouthwatering and perhaps Super Bowl-deciding.

We had to sneak the Aussie in, too. Mike Dickson is among the very best punters (their version of punter, not ours) in the NFL.

The Sydneysider has been in Seattle since 2018 and has been a star all the way. He’s an All-Pro (first team in 2018, second team this season) and averages 48.3 yards per punt.

We saw special teams play a part when the Rams fumbled a Dickson punt. He can make a difference in this game, too.

Super Bowl LX Preview – Patriots Strengths

Mike VRABEL is not worth 13 wins but that’s the reality of this Patriots situation.

Many of the same players on both sides, the same QB - who looked awful last season - yet a vastly different result.

The way he carries this team’s attitude, respectful yet ready to roll. For as bad as the Jerod Mayo hire was before this, securing Vrabel may have been owner Robert Kraft’s third best decision ever. (Brady and Belichick have to be one and two).

Christian GONZALEZ is a lockdown cornerback. He will likely be assigned to Jaxon SMITH-NJIGBA to nullify the game’s best wideout.

On second and nine with 2:18 remaining, Gonzalez intercepted Denver’s Jarrett STIDHAM to send New England to the big dance. He also recorded a sack, and I like him as a sneaky blowout MVP hope.

Super Bowl LX Preview – Seahawks Weaknesses

Slinging Sam Darnold has been outstanding in the Pacific Northwest BUT he has been prone to errors. He’s more spectacular than he is surgical (stole that line from Tom Brady) so when there’s good, there’s also a chance for bad.

He was NFL #3 for picks thrown and fumbled 11 times this season. Worrying numbers when things do go wrong.

Aside from JSN, Seattle leans heavily on various others to do a job in the passing game. When I saw various others, there’s really no second pass-catching threat from week to week.

Cooper Kupp can make plays but he’s miles removed from the triple-crown-winning WR in LA.

Should Gonzalez take JSN out, Darnold will be looking for someone to step up.

Super Bowl LX Preview – Patriots Weaknesses

Drake Maye has been close to really bad this post-season. I’m sorry, but he really has.

I’m happy to wipe the AFC title game because the weather was so awful to throw the ball. And, yes, credit for carrying the ball 10 times for 65 yards and a crucial TD.

But against Houston, he fumbled four times and against LA in the Wildcard Round, he had two more fumbles and a pick.

He’s young and talented but has been poor to date.

Worryingly, Maye has been sacked FIFTEEN times in three playoff games. Seattle can rush the passer, and the Pats have struggled keeping Maye upright. It’s not a sexy aspect to the game but might be the most important!

Super Bowl LX Preview – Ace in the Pack

Seattle Seahawks

Rashid Shaheed: he’s a speed demon who makes plays in various different forms. He caught a 51-yard pass early to ignite Seattle and the crowd and has made plays all season in the punt return phase.

He has a 58-yard punt return TD this season and a monster 100-yard kick return TD to his name. In a close game, Shaheed can take any ball to the house at any unsuspecting moment.

New England Patriots

Treveyon Henderson: the rookie has had some mammoth moments and games but has seemingly fallen off the perch in the post-season.

Perhaps Josh McDaniels prefers the veteran Rhamondre Stevenson, but Henderson has big play ability. McDaniels has also been known for stashing things for big spots…

He has a couple of 50+ yard touchdowns on the season and would be a surprise element for the Seahawk D to handle.

Super Bowl LX Prediction – Who Wins?

These Seahawks really do feel like the most complete team New England has faced. An elite D with a vicious defensive line, a deadly receiver with capable wingmen and a powerful running back in sensational form.

In regard to which QB you can trust more, coaching will matter plenty here. I suspect both coaching groups try to protect the QB where possible.

On 3rd and long, you’ll see underneath passing, asking receivers to make plays rather than quarterbacks making risky throws.

Maye has too many fumbles and too many sacks already in these playoffs and you know Seattle can ask as many questions - if not more - than all of LA, Houston and Denver on D.

Head-to-head prediction: Seahawks 24 – Patriots 17

Super Bowl LX Predictions – Best Bets

First TD: I like to take one from each team which gives me a dog in each fight no matter who scores first. Give me a penny on each quarterback, Sam DARNOLD @ $51 and Drake MAYE @ $19.

MVP: Leonard WILLIAMS ($101)

Seahawks -4.5

George HOLANI SGM: 2+ receptions and 10+ receiving yards ($2.20)

Leonard Williams and DeMarcus Lawrence combine for 1.75 sacks ($4.50)

Drake MAYE 2+ interceptions ($4)

Sam DARNOLD +6.5 rush yards ($1.93)

Rhamondre STEVENSON -76.5 rush/receiving yards ($1.88)

Rashid SHAHEED +29.5 rush/receiving yards ($1.87)

Mack HOLLINS +27.5 receiving yards

New England -332.5 passing/rush yards

Odds are subject to change*

Super Bowl LX Date and Details Australia

Start time: 10:30am AEDT.

Date: Monday, February 9, 2026.

Location: Levi Stadium, Santa Clara.
