The Lions drew first blood in Brisbane to continue their perfect record tour down under for 2025!

It wasn’t as clinical or as comprehensive as they drew it up initially, but Andy Farrell’s men emerged from Lang Park with a 27-19 win over Australia in Game 1 of the 2025 Test series. They scored early in the piece before crossing over again on either side of the half-time break.

Despite conceding a pair of second-half tries, it was enough to gap the game and prove too strong for the hosts. Leaving it all to play for, for the Wallabies as they head to the MCG for game two this Saturday to avoid a series defeat.

Can the Wallabies get their power back and square the series with some key players poised to return from injury? Or can the Lions wrap up the series and head to Sydney eyeing a clean sweep?

For the latest news, teams, tips, previews, and analysis of the biggest Rugby tour in the world, catch our Wallabies vs Lions Game 2 prediction and preview below.

Wallabies vs British & Irish Lions Squads

Wallabies Squad

Forwards: Allan Alaalatoa, Angus Bell, Josh Canham, Nick Champion De Crespigny, Matt Faessler, Nick Frost, Langi Gleeson, Tom Hooper, Fraser McReight, Zane Nonggor, Billy Pollard, David Porecki, Tom Robertson, Will Skelton, James Slipper, Carlo Tizzano, Taniela Tupou, Rob Valetini, Jeremy Williams, Harry Wilson

Backs: Filipo Daugunu, Ben Donaldson, Jake Gordon, Len Ikitau, Max Jorgensen, Andrew Kellaway, Tom Lynagh, Tate McDermott, James O’Connor, Hunter Paisami, Dylan Pietsch, Harry Potter, Joseph-Aukuso Suaalii, Corey Toole, Nic White, Tom Wright

British & Irish Lions Squad

Forwards: Finlay Bealham (Ireland), Tadhg Berine (Ireland), Ollie Chessum (England), Jack Conan (Ireland), Luke Cowan-Dickie (England), Scott Cummings (Scotland), Tom Curry (England), Ben Earl (England), Tadhg Furlong (Ireland), Ellis Genge (England), Maro Itoje (England), Ronan Kelleher (Ireland), Joe McCarthy (Ireland), Jac Morgan (Wales), Henry Pollock (Ireland), Andrew Porter (Ireland), James Ryan (Ireland), Pierre Schoeman (Scotland), Dan Sheehan (Ireland), Will Stuart (England), Josh van der Filer (Ireland)

Backs: Bundee Aki (England), Owen Farrell (England), Tommy Freeman (England), Jamison Gibson-Park (Ireland), Mack Hansen (Ireland), Huw Jones (Scotland), Blair Kinghorn (Scotland), James Lowe (Ireland), Alex Mitchell (England), Garry Ringrose (Ireland), Finn Russell (Scotland), Fin Smith (England), Marcus Smith (England), Sione Tuipulotu (Scotland), Duhan van der Merwe (Scotland), Ben White (Scotland)

Wallabies vs British & Irish Lions Prediction & Betting Tips

Head-to-Head

The Lions got off to a winning start, as they have every time they have come to Australia since the turn of the century.

But the winning start has been historically followed up with a slip-up. On both occasions since 2000, the Lions have gone on to lose Game 2 of the series after a first-up win. Both losses came in Melbourne, at the MCG and at Marvel Stadium respectively.

The Lions nailed their halves combination in Game 1 and will likely keep the same in Game 2, with the creativity of Jamison Gibson-Park and Finn Russell poking many holes in the Wallabies' defensive lines.

The Wallabies looked far more dangerous through the phases after Tate McDermott replaced Jake Gordon, and while Tom Lynagh looked comfortable as a starting 10, he could have benefited from some extra experience on the bench. Which means we could see a change here with James O’Connor being called upon to either start or come off the bench.

In a boost for Joe Schmidt and Australia, Will Skelton and Rob Valetini are expected to return from injury to give the forward pack a boost, while a change in the front row might also be in the offing with Angus Bell a chance to play.

Despite being outsiders, we all want a grandstand finish to the series next week, and if history is anything to go by, we’re backing the Aussies here to get it done and take us to a decider!

Betting tip: Wallabies

First Try Scorer

Scottish centre Huw Jones has been a revelation on his first Lions tour and was almost over for a try on debut in Red before it was disallowed by the TMO for not releasing the ball.

He’s scored in almost every tour match he’s played so far this trip, enhancing his reputation as a prolific try scorer as he has been for Scotland. He’s our pick to cross over first at the G.

Betting tip: Huw Jones

Over/Under Total Match Points

The Lions continued their scoring ways down under at Brisbane, but unsurprisingly, found it harder to repeatedly breach a Test-quality defensive line compared to a provincial side.

Despite not hitting the Overs last week, the Wallabies did show they had some scoring firepower too, with some extra oomph coming with the looming inclusions to the starting 15.

We think this game will be tighter given what’s at stake, leaning us to go with the Under for total match points.

Betting tip: Under 49.5 total match points

How to watch Wallabies vs British & Irish Lions Game 2

Every game of the British & Irish Lions tour of Australia will be shown live and ad-break free on Stan Sport.

Every Test match between the Lions and the Wallabies will be shown on Channel Nine.

Wallabies vs British & Irish Lions Match Details

Date: Saturday, July 26th

Kickoff: 7:45pm AEST

Location: MCG, Melbourne

How to watch: Channel 9, Stan Sport
