The MotoGP 2026 season continues to roar on, with the German GP up next for the world’s best motorcyclists. They’ll take on the Sachsenring track on Sunday, July 12, with the race set to start at 22:00 AEST.
Competitors will have had a two-week preparation period for this race, as there was no race on Sunday, July 7. The last one was the Netherlands GP on June 28, in which Ai Ogura claimed his maiden victory after moving up from Moto2 as the world champion. But who is looking good to take the German GP?
Quick Picks
Our pick: Márquez to win
Value bet: Bagnaia as an each-way
Long shot: Ogura to win in each-way
Betting Preview
The German GP is the 11th race of the season, with the title picture extremely tight. Jorge Martín is leading the standings, while Marco Bezzecchi is just seven points behind him, having won four races this year. Fabio Di Giannantonio is third, while Ogura is fourth.
Marc Márquez sits fifth in the standings with two wins, but he has been historically strong at Sachsenring.
He’s won essentially every time he’s turned up at Sachsenring across classes for more than a decade, including taking both the Sprint and main race in 2025 for his ninth MotoGP‑class win at the track; between 2010 and 2018, he took nine consecutive victories at Sachsenring across 125cc, Moto2 and MotoGP.
Sachsenring is one of the shortest tracks on the calendar at about 3.67 km, with 10 left‑handers and only 3 right‑handers. The layout is tight, twisty, and flowing rather than stop‑start, so it favours bikes with strong edge grip, stability in long corners, and good turning rather than outright top speed.
Betting Markets to Watch
Given the history that Márquez has at this track, it’s likely that he will be the favourite to win this event. It cannot be ignored, and he’ll also potentially be aiming to prove a point and drag his manufacturer’s (Ducati) title credentials upward.
Still, that could present value for other drivers, as his history could distort the value being highlighted. Martín and Francesco Bagnaia are likely to be contenders in this race, which is where you may find better value over the dominant Márquez.
Martín is the championship leader and will be full of confidence and momentum, while Bagnaia has previous success at Sachsenring and arrives with strong motivation to cut into Márquez’s and Martín’s title momentum.
Our Prediction

We think it’s likely that Márquez will win this race . His history at the Sachsenring cannot be understated and is far too difficult to ignore in a race like this.
A long shot for us is Ai Ogura , as the Japanese superstar has been enjoying a hugely positive maiden season. He is in positive form and will enter the race on the back of his first win, which could be enough for him to want to try and secure another as quickly as possible.
