Betting Preview
The EuroLeague Playoffs will take place over the course of about a month, with First Round games beginning on April 29 (AEST) and the final scheduled for May 25 (AEST). Games in the First Round are to be played across a best-of-five format, while the semi-finals and final are single-game eliminators.
Teams have been seeded based on regular-season performance and final standing, with the #7 and #8 seeds coming from the Play-In Tournament.
At the time of writing, the First Round games are:
- #1 Olympiacos vs #8 Monaco or Barcelona
- #2 Valencia Basket vs #7 Panathinaikos
- #3 Real Madrid vs #6 Hapoel Tel Aviv
- #4 Fenerbahce vs #5 Zalgiris
The higher seed will play two home games to start the series, arguably giving them an advantage. Should a fourth game be required, it will be played at the venue of the third game. If a fifth is needed, it will be played at the home of the higher seed.
Betting Markets to Watch
With the format of the EuroLeague Basketball Playoffs, there's potential for many betting opportunities and value to be explored.
Looking ahead to the futures, Olympiacos are considered the early favourites to win. Indeed, they were the best team in the regular season, winning 26 of their 38 games. As the #1 seed, they'll face the "weakest" remaining team, giving them a perceived advantage.
However, there appears to be value in Valencia Basket in the early odds. Their 24-13 regular season record and 8-of-9 recent wins make them undervalued against top favourites like Olympiacos.
Elsewhere, Panathinaikos and Real Madrid also offer value worth exploring in the futures market. Both have shorter odds than Valencia, but this is due to their experience and quality. The only doubts about the Greek side may be that they haven't been at their best recently; they went 6-4 over their last 10 but did put in a strong performance against Monaco in the Play-In.
Real Madrid offers value after they enter the playoffs with a 7-3 record over their last 10 games and winning pedigree. They can often be overlooked early, which is perhaps why their odds are as long as they are.

Our top pick is for Olympiacos to be the likely winners. Real Madrid offers value as potential winners based on their record-setting 11 wins and 21 final appearances.
