With listed, Group 2 and Group 3 events across varied distances, it is worth brushing up on the different types of horse racing to follow the day's structure.

Betting Markets to Watch

Although there haven’t been any confirmations as of yet, the Danehill Stakes odds have Natural Fling as the leading favourite. Natural Fling was being prepared specifically for the Danehill by Team McEvoy, and is based in Flemington.

The filly recently won a jump out at Flemington just a few days ago in preparation, but that was only over 800m. Race fans can have no worries over distance here, though, as Natural Fling has won over 1,100m before, winning in August at Caulfield.

The Group 2 Edward Manifold Stakes is another race worth looking at, with Icelady and Profligate co-favourites in the odds.

Icelady has a recent victory at Caulfield over 1,400m, which improves on the several second-place finishes this year over shorter distances.

Profligate is winless, but is consistently strong over 1,400m. Both are stepping up in distance, with both currently ahead in the odds by some margin.

Hedged leads the nominations in the Gilgai Stakes, with Losesomewinmore closely behind in the early odds.

Hedged has a recent second-placed finish in a Group 2 race at Flemington, over the same distance of 1,200m, but was beaten by Losesomewinmore by 0.46 lengths.

It is perhaps why there is better value on the latter, as the gelding knows the track and often performs well here.
