Race 1 (10.45 pm) Maribyrnong Plate (1000m)
The feature race for 2YOs at this carnival. Space Rider is a first-starter for Price and Kent. Lovely style of colt with a great action. He was impressive winning a trial at Warwick Farm on October 15. Worth a bet each way with Damian Lane in the saddle.
Racing Tip: Space Rider
Race 7 (3.00 pm) Melbourne Cup (3200m)
Vauban was favourite for last year’s Cup but he flopped badly. Wily Irish trainer Willie Mullins has trained him differently this year, and he hopes it makes the difference. On his UK form, he looks the horse to beat. For a saving bet, Moonee Valley Cup winner Okita Soushi will run a bold race.
Racing Tip: Vauban & Okita Soushi
Melbourne Cup racing tip Trifecta: Vauban, Okita Soushi, Buckaroo and Onesmoothoperator to win or run second – throw in as many as you can for third, but make sure you include Land Legend, Absurde, Interpretation and Zardozi
Race 8 (3.50 pm) The Amanda Elliott (1400m)
Big Swinger couldn’t have been more impressive winning both starts – at Ballarat – over 1200m. He raced on the pace and hit the line strongly. Craig Williams stays on him, and 1400m is a perfect trip.
Racing Tip: Big Swinger
Race 10 (5.15 pm) Benchmark 90 (1400m)
No better way to finish Cup day at Flemington than to cheer home a horse named Warnie. Trainer Ciaron Maher has a big opinion of this horse. Expect the equine Warnie to have the big Flemington crowd rocking.
Racing Tip: Warnie

Racing Tip: Vivy Air
Race 7 (4.10 pm) Little Dance (1600m)
St Lawrence was dominant winning over this course and trip on October 5 when he came home hard from 10th on the turn. Only needs to run to that form to win this.
Racing Tip: St Lawrence
Race 9 (5.30 pm) Benchmark 84 Handicap (1000m)
Headwall has done a lot of travelling of late. He was second behind the smart Moby Dick at Flemington in September and then a last-start second behind Bubba’s Bay at Doomben. His best form is at 1000m. Bet each way.
Racing Tip: Headwall

Race 5 (2.52 pm SA time) Benchmark 64 (1800m)
Starts Now is a promising horse in good hands. He’ll be better for two runs from a spell and he steps to 1800m, which is ideal.
Racing Tip: Starts Now
Race 6 (3.32 pm SA time) John Letts Cup (1800m)
We tipped Arran Bay to win the Sale Cup last week and he looked the winner before Pounding nabbed him on the post. Drawn to get the right run.

Race 4 (1.48 pm WA time) 3YO No Metro Win (1000m)
Tactics had a torrid run four-wide on the pace first-up at Belmont (1200m) on October 23. Did a big job to hold on. Back to 1000m from a better draw. Looks the winner if she hasn’t taken harm from the tough run.
Racing Tip: Tactics
Race 6 (4.30 pm WA time) Burgess Queen Stakes (1400m)
Nice style of filly who produced a big finish, albeit after following a hot pace, to win at Belmont (1200m) on October 3. That was a classy maiden and this filly will relish the extra 200m and an inside draw.
Racing Tip: Nickelplay
