Moonee Valley Race 1 Tip

Tip: Taunting

South Australian sprinter who won the Listed Hills Railway Stakes (1100m) at Oakbank in April. Showed he’s right on that form by winning at Morphettville (1000m) on September 30, when he sat outside the leader and ran a fast 56.96 secs. Likely to find himself in a similar position outside the likely leader Unflinching, and he might be too strong with Damian Lane riding. The racing tip is to bet to win in this small field.

Moonee Valley Race 2 Tip

Tip: Bold Bastille

This is a very difficult race to access as this is a full field of two-year-olds all having their first start. Expect a myriad of racing tips to be flying around from the trial watchers. Bold Bastille is a likely type of filly who cruised around a jump-out trial (second) in slick time at Flemington with plenty in hand. She is in a leading stable, and jockey Mark Zahra is likely to ride her patiently behind what is expected to be a mad scramble for the lead. Bold Bastille can sit off the pace and run over the top of them. Bet each-way.

Moonee Valley Race 3 Tip

Tip: Wishlor Lass

There’s an adage in racing parlance to follow fillies or mares in winning form. Wishlor Lass is one of those mares. Trainer Symon Wilde has placed Wishlor Lass perfectly to win five of her seven starts, and she can make it six from barrier in the Tesio Stakes. She followed a soft win at Sandown on October 1 with an all-the-way win at Group 3 level at Caulfield (1600m) two weeks ago. She will lead or box seat from barrier 1, and she looks one of the top Moonee Valley tips of the day.

Moonee Valley Race 4 Tip:

Tip: Mumbai Muse

Sydney filly in the Michael Freedman stable. Freshened since her fading ninth behind Tiz Invincible in the G2 Tea Rose Stakes (1400m) at Randwick on September 16. Her previous form, in similar class, over 1200m was consistently good and she has warmed up for this with a trial win at Randwick last Friday. Drawn to get a good run (barrier 3) and the booking of Zac Purton to ride her is a solid racing tip. Bet each way.

Moonee Valley Race 5 Tip

Tip: Antino

Exceptionally talented Queenslander who just failed to run down Attrition in an hotly run G1 Toorak Handicap (1600m) at Caulfield two weeks ago. He has improved each run in Melbourne, and the Moonee Valley tip from track watchers was that nothing worked better than him at the Breakfast gallops on Tuesday morning. Tricky small field containing a star mare in Prowess who is returning from injury and drawn awkwardly, so fitness and barrier 4 will give Antino the edge. Happy to bet to win.

Moonee Valley Race 6 Tip

Tip: Carina Queen and Skybird

Happy to play on both these promising fillies in this the Fillies Classic. Carina Queen was very impressive winning at Sandown (1400m) on October 1 when she swooped late under a clever Mick Dee ride. Trainer Grahame Begg is a master with fillies, and he rates this filly very highly. Skybird is a raw talent. Both her provincial wins have been awesome, and she will relish the 1600m. She looks like a real prospect, expect her to be charging late. Back them both each way and put them in your Moonee Valley quaddie tips.

Moonee Valley Race 7 Tip

Tip: Port Lockroy

Improving Sydney three-year-old in the Annabel Neasham stable. Promising fifth behind Ganbare in the Listed Dulcify Stakes (1600m) at Randwick and then too good for restricted grade at Kensington-Randwick (1800m) on October 18. Looks like this extra distance will suit him and Mick Dee should give him a gun ride from barrier 1 in a race of many chances. One of the better each-way Moonee Valley tips on the card.

Moonee Valley Race 8 Tip

Tip: Imperatriz and Buenos Noches

Imperatriz ticks all the boxes as the best Moonee Valley Tip of the day, but’s she’s very short odds for the average punter unless you are playing all-ups. All being equal, Imperatriz should be able to continue her love affair with Moonee Valley after breaking the 1000m track record in her past two starts. If you are looking for some value or to mix with Imperatriz in the wider plays, then Buenos Noches is the one. He got knocked rotten in The Everest, so forgive than run. He’s got the talent to run very well at his first try around Moonee Valley. Put them both in your Moonee Valley quaddie tips.

Moonee Valley Race 9 Tip

Tip: Militarize

History shows that the outstanding three-year-olds have a wonderful record of either winning the Cox Plate or running well. Militarize, despite his luckless fifth in the Caulfield Guineas, is an outstanding three-year-old with three Group 1 wins to his name. He will relish the 2040m, has only 49.5kg on his back and he’s drawn perfectly. What’s not to like? He’s an ideal Moonee Valley tip for an each-way play for punters looking for a run for their money in the big race.

Moonee Valley Race 10 Tip

Tip: Schwarz

Interestingly named colt who, ironically, is named after a former AFL player who wrote a book about his gambling addiction! Trainer John O’Shea has put his faith in this colt to come to Melbourne for a big test after winning his only start at Gosford. O’Shea must rate him highly and backed his judgement by booking top jockey James McDonald to ride. We are following O’Shea and Schwarz as our “get out” play in the Red Anchor Stakes.

If you are interested in a bet on the super Cox Plate meeting at Moonee Valley on Saturday, click here for our guide on How To Bet On Horse Racing
