Flemington Race 1 Tip

Pioneer River

Although he hasn’t won since New Year’s Day in 2022, he has won three races down the Flemington straight and his recent Sydney runs suggests he’s in good form. Three starts back he finished a solid third behind the high-class Benedetta over 1100m at Flemington. An honest horse for us to kick off the Flemington Saturday tips.

Flemington Race 2 Tip

Blue Illusion

Like all the two-year-olds in this race, he’s having his first start. Had a look at the Flemington straight on September 28 when he won a jump-out in a professional manner typical of the Godolphin-James Cummings juveniles. Importantly, when betting in these early races for the babies, the racing tip is to watch the betting market.

Flemington Race 3 Tip

Apulia

Son of Melbourne Cup winner Fiorente who ran second behind Veight in the G2 Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m) at Flemington in March. He shows that he will relish getting out to this 1800m distance. The wide barrier draw (no. 13) should give him the galloping room he needs to be one of the better racing tips of the day as he heads towards the Victoria Derby next month.

Flemington Race 4 Tip

Legacies

Co-trainer Peter Moody has said many times that there is a big race in this filly. Beaten when odds-on against the ‘boys’ over 1400m here on September 16, when she didn’t pull up that well. Moody told the media this week that she’s back on track so expect a vast improvement back against her own sex. If Moody is right, she’s one of the top Flemington tips of the day.

Flemington Race 5 Tip

Stretan Angel

Exciting filly taking on some big-name colts at Group 2 level. She resumed with an eye-catching second behind Shesallshenanigans here on September 16. Going to be fitter and she’s great value. Damian Lane takes the ride on a filly who could be the best value Flemington tip of the day.

Flemington Race 6 Tip

Princess Grace

Trainer Chris Waller has found the perfect race for this quality mare. Her past three runs have been in Group 1 races in which she has been very competitive behind the best horses in the land – Mr Brightside, Fangirl and Alligator Blood. She’s on track for the Empire Rose Stakes at Flemington on Derby Day. The 1400m is ideal for her as she is best when she can dictate the race on the speed.

Flemington Race 7 Tip

Goldman

Goldman won the Roy Higgins Quality (2600m) at Flemington in March, which earned him a Melbourne Cup start, so he doesn’t have the same incentive as most of the others in this field chasing an elusive “Golden Ticket” into the great race. Getting to a distance that will see him shine. Look for him to set the tempo.

Flemington Race 8 Tip

Romantic Warrior

The superstar from Hong Kong has won 10 of his 14 starts against some of the world’s best horses. Jockey James McDonald rode him in a galloper at Flemington last Sunday and reported that he’s “excited” by how fit and well the horse felt. Romantic Warrior should win as he warms up for the Cox Plate. He’s the horse to watch and the top Flemington tip of the day.

Flemington Race 9 Tip

C’Est Magique

Far from disgraced when a game fourth behind Benedetta at Caulfield on September 2. Trainer Grahame Begg has kept her fresh. Last spring she finished second behind In Secret in the G1 Coolmore Stud Stakes over 1200m at Flemington. She only has to bring that form to be a value play here. Make sure she is in your Flemington quaddie tips.

Flemington Race 10 Tip

Tamerlane

Lack of fitness saw him lead and weaken for fifth, first-up over 1400m, behind Epsom Handicap winner Rediner in the G3 Bill Ritchie Stakes (1400m) at Randwick on September 16. Expect him to bounce on the pace and he won’t mind if there is some sting out of the ground.

If you are interested in a Flemington bet, click here for our guide on How To Bet On Horse Racing.
