Premier League Matchweek 3 Prediction and Betting Odds

The English Premier League resumed back to normal business in matchweek two, with few surprises. Now, it’s time for MW3.

A huge encounter has been saved for the end of the week, with reigning champions Arsenal hosting Chelsea, with some tipping the Blues for a title tilt after their impressive start to the season.

Meanwhile the three promoted teams – Ipswich, Coventry and Hull – will face three of the biggest clubs in the league over the last couple of seasons.

Quick Picks

Our pick: Nottingham Forest vs Spurs Draw

Value bet: Everton vs Utd Draw

Long shot: Man City Over 4.5 Goals

Betting Markets to Watch

Arsenal vs Chelsea is undeniably the biggest clash of this weekend’s EPL fixtures, with both London clubs holding a 100% win record after two games. Arsenal are coming off a hard fought 1-0 victory at Aston Villa. Chelsea, meanwhile, came through a much higher scoring clash against Brighton, winning 4-3.

The Gunners are big favourites , and are likely to win. We’ve previewed the game in more detail in a separate article.

Elsewhere, Manchester United fans will be looking forward to their side’s trip to Everton after a comprehensive 5-2 triumph against Ipswich last weekend. They will need to be wary of playing away, though, having lost to Hull in the opener.

Michael Carrick’s side are favourites but a draw has value as former United boss David Moyes’ Toffees are unbeaten so far (1W, 1D). United have won three of the last five meetings between the pair, but Everton hold a win and a draw in their last three meetings.

For punters wanting the numbers behind picks like this, our Premier League form guide is worth a look.

Liverpool will make the trip to Ipswich with Bradley Barcola part of the squad after the winger’s move from PSG. The Reds have been held to two consecutive 2-2 draws, but they’ll face a Tractor Boys who will be licking their wounds after their heavy defeat to Manchester United.

It’s no surprise Liverpool are favourites, with the ‘ Over 3.5 Goals ’ market offering value.

The Nottingham Forest vs Tottenham match could be one of the most intriguing of the weekend. Despite spending big across the summer, Spurs have had a shocking start to the campaign – conceding five goals without scoring – and need a result already.

Forest have had a mixed start, having lost to Leeds before drawing 2-2 with Liverpool under Oliver Glasner. A draw has value here, as it’s hard to know what to expect. If you're new to markets like these, our guide to EPL betting breaks down how to approach them.

Our Prediction

Check the latest EPL betting odds at Sportsbet.

Our top prediction for the EPL MW3 round of fixtures is the draw in the Forest-Spurs game. Although Forest have won the last four H2H, Spurs are desperate to get points, and Roberto De Zerbi appears to be building his squad in the right way.

Manchester City vs Coventry could be one that sees goals. City put on a clinical display against Palace, with Rayan Cherki and Erling Haaland both scoring twice.

Enzo Maresca’s side won’t take it easy against Frank Lampard’s side, and the gulf in quality could see this be a game that has value in the ‘Over 4.5 Goals’ market ; although that’s our long shot this week.
