Arsenal vs Chelsea Prediction & Betting Odds

The English Premier League may only just be entering Matchweek 3, but we’ve already got a hell of a heavyweight clash on our hands with a huge London derby to be played between Arsenal and Chelsea.

The two teams both have a 100% win record after two games, and now they square up each other at the Emirates Stadium on Monday, September 7, with KO at 01:30 AEST.

Quick Picks

Our pick: Arsenal to win

Value bet: ‘Yes’ for the ‘Both Teams To Score & O/U 2.5 Goals’ market.

Long shot: ‘To Score in Both Halves’ market for Arsenal

Betting Preview

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal side have begun their EPL title defence in the best possible start, securing 3-0 and 1-0 victories in their opening two games against Coventry and Aston Villa.

The Gunners have largely been at their best, controlling the promoted side before finding a way to grind out a win against a Villa side who put on a much better display than their shocking 4-0 defeat against Brighton on the opening weekend.

Xabi Alonso has found life at Stamford Bridge to be going well in the early games. He has had back-to-back wins against Fulham (3-2) and Brighton (4-3). His attack is free-flowing with Brazilian Joao Pedro, and English pair Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers all appearing to link up well.

However, his defence is leaky. They have added former Arsenal goalkeeper Emi Martinez to the team, but he still had to pick the ball up out of his net three times against the Seagulls.

While it’s still incredibly early in the Premier League season, this is a match that many will use as a yardstick. Can Arsenal prove to everyone that their favourites label is justified this season with another top performance?

And are Chelsea legitimate contenders who can cope with the best despite being in a season of huge change?

Betting Markets to Watch

Arsenal are huge favourites in the betting to win in the moneyline odds; Chelsea are perceived as large underdogs.

The recent record between the two sides arguably reflects those odds, as the Gunners have won the last three to have been played at the Emirates in the EPL. These results include a 5-0 demolition job, as well as closer 1-0, and 2-1 victories.

Of course, a lot has changed, but Arsenal remain incredibly strong at home, with a backline which is super tough to break down, and there are questions over the Blues’ defence.

There’s value worth exploring in the goals market. The BTTS is an interesting market, given Arsenal’s ability to keep clean sheets. They are yet to concede a goal this season, but Chelsea have netted the joint highest seven so far. We think it’s likely to hit. The Premier League form guide is worth a look for the clean sheet and scoring numbers behind those trends.

By extension, we think the ‘ Over 2.5 goals ’ market is also likely to hit. This leads to value in the ‘Yes’ for the ‘Both Teams To Score & O/U 2.5 Goals’ market.

Our Prediction

Check the latest Arsenal vs Chelsea betting odds at Sportsbet.

Our prediction is that Arsenal will be the likely winners of this game.

We think there’s long shot value in the ‘To Score in Both Halves’ market for Arsenal. While they struggled to find a way against an Aston Villa side that had been heavily exposed the week before, the Gunners will want to exploit Chelsea’s frailties at the back as early as possible and then hit them later on when the game opens up.

If you are looking at goalscorers, Bukayo Saka has scored in each of Arsenal’s opening games, as has Pedro and Palmer for Chelsea.
