The English Premier League was back with a bang in MW1, with some surprise results being recorded, as well as some near-shocks.

Hull City started life back in the EPL with a victory over Manchester United, while Manchester City had to come from a goal down to beat Bournemouth with two late goals.

Ipswich Town got their first three points, while Brentford stunned Tottenham at home. Arsenal, meanwhile, started their title defence with a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Coventry.

Betting Markets to Watch

With MW1 already in the books, there are already some interesting storylines to keep an eye on for this upcoming matchweek.

For example, Coventry versus Hull will be a battle between two of the newly promoted sides. The Tigers will be buoyant from their unexpected win against Manchester United. But, remember, Coventry easily won the Championship last season, with Hull promoted through the play-offs after finishing sixth and 22 points behind Frank Lampard’s side.

The games between Spurs and Newcastle, and Aston Villa and Arsenal could see recently transferred players return to former clubs in Sandro Tonali and Ezri Konsa, respectively.

Manchester United are against another promoted side once again, with many expecting a reaction, especially after Ipswich recorded a win in their opener with a late goal against Sunderland.

That game has value. United are heavy favourites , but there’s value in Ipswich And Draw in the double chance. Although their last meeting at Old Trafford ended 3-2 to the hosts, they drew 1-1 at Portman Road earlier in the 2024/25 season. The visitors will be in a positive mood while Michael Carrick’s side will be desperate to avoid another slip-up.

The Draw has value in the game between Coventry and Hull , as both meetings ended 0-0 in the Championship last season. Both will be desperate to pick up points in this encounter, but it could be a very competitive affair with little goal action due to the midfield battles.

The BTTS and Over 2.5 Goals markets are likely to hit in the Crystal Palace vs Man City game; the BTTS has hit in three of the last five (though not the last two), and 3+ goals have been scored in each of those five games.

And with football having that habit of throwing up amazing stories, we’re going to throw in a real long shot this week – Sandro Tonali to score or assist against Newcastle.
