Nicolson vs Yoshida Prediction and Betting Odds

Nicolson vs Yoshida Prediction and Odds

In what could be a headline bout on another card, Skye Nicolson takes on Miyo Yoshida as part of the MVPW7 slate.

The bout will see Australian boxer Nicolson defend her WBC World Female Super Bantamweight Title against the Japanese opponent in Arlington, Texas. The event is scheduled for Monday, November 9, with the card starting at 09:15 AEDT.

Quick Picks

Our pick: Nicolson to win

Value bet: Nicolson by decision

Long shot: Nicolson by KO/TKO

Tale of the Tape

This is a fight where the contrasting stances could create value in the betting. Nicolson adopts a southpaw stance while Yoshida uses a traditional orthodox stance.

The angles that could present themselves during the fight could lead to awkward exchanges that create openings.

Nicolson will likely aim to dictate the fight and make it a long-range boxing match, rather than one in which they both exchange powerful blows.

In contrast, Yoshida is going to need to try and cut off the ring and deny Nicolson the space and rhythm that has been successful for her.

And here’s how the two stack up, with Nicolson’s statistics first:

  • Age - 31 vs 38
  • Height - 5'5" (166cm) vs 5'3" (161cm)
  • Stance - Southpaw vs Orthodox
  • Record - 16-1-0 vs 19-5-0
  • KO Record - 3 vs 1

Betting Markets to Watch

As the defending champion, the latest Grade B fight odds favour Nicolson to be the winner by quite a large margin. There’s very little value in the Meadowbrook-born fighter, suggesting Yoshida has very little chance of winning here.

Indeed, Yoshida has already acknowledged the Aussie’s footwork, timing and ability to score while moving, which could be the route to victory for the champ.

The Japanese boxer’s only chance, perhaps, is to force sustained exchanges. But even that is looking unlikely given Nicolson’s southpaw jab, movement and control of distance.

That said, Yoshida does have plenty of experience behind her, being a three-time former two-weight world champion. This will be a step up at 122lbs, though.

It may be interesting to look at the odds for Nicholson to win by decision and the fight to go the distance. Both have experienced fights which have gone the distance on several occasions throughout their respective careers.

Our Prediction

Check the latest Nicolson vs Yoshida betting odds.

Our prediction is a likely Nicolson win, with a decision victory the most likely outcome.

As a long shot, we think there will be value in a Nicolson KO/TKO. She doesn’t win her fights by this method often, while Yoshida has never been stopped. However, Nicolson definitely has the power to put her older opponent on the canvas.
