Buatsi vs Hutchinson Prediction and Odds

Fighting for the vacant WBC World Light Heavyweight Title, Joshua Buatsi and Willy Hutchinson will meet for the second time inside the ring.

The pair last fought back in September 2024, with Buatsi claiming a split-decision victory.

Now, they’ll fight in Manchester, UK, for the belt on Sunday, November 8, with the card beginning at 06:00 AEDT.

Quick Picks

Our pick: Buatsi to win

Value bet: Buatsi by decision

Long shot: Buatsi by KO/TKO

Tale of the Tape

Their first fight was considered controversial, with two judges scoring it 117-108 and 115-110 for Ghanaian-born British boxer Buatsi, while the third had Hutchinson winning 113-112.

This was despite Buatsi scoring two knockdowns (Round 6 and 9), while Hutchinson also had a point deducted for use of his head in Round 7.

Hutchinson had some early success in the fight, but as the bout went on, Buatsi grew more aggressive, landing heavier punches and sustaining pressure.

Hutchinson showed signs of resilience to get through the 12 rounds, but Buatsi clearly had his number on the day.

Buatsi’s statistics are first:

  • Age - 33 vs 28
  • Height - 6'2" (188cm) vs 6'1" (185cm)
  • Stance - Orthodox vs Orthodox
  • Record - 20-1-0 vs 20-2-0
  • KO Record - 13 vs 14

Betting Markets to Watch

Buatsi is the leading favourite in the moneyline, although the odds reflect how tight the first contest between them was, as Hutchinson isn’t considered a long shot.

The method of victory might be the more interesting market to look at, with the odds favouring a win by decision for Buatsi.

With there being two knockdowns in the first encounter, there’s also some value to be found in a KO/TKO victory for him this time around in Manchester.

The only issue might be that this will be Buatsi’s first time back in the ring competitively in 12 months. If you are weighing that market, it helps to be across the difference between KO and TKO before backing a finish.

The odds also suggest the fight is more likely to go the distance. Looking at the stats, Buatsi’s last six have all gone the allotted rounds, and he hasn’t looked entirely comfortable in all of them.

The fight against Parker was controversial, as it could easily have gone in his opponent’s favour with different judges.

With both fighters' records littered with scorecard results, it is worth knowing what SD, MD and UD mean when reading the method-of-victory odds.

Scottish boxer Hutchinson, meanwhile, has ended two of his last five by KO/TKO, but he struggled to land any real power on Buatsi back in 2024.

Our Prediction

Check the latest Buatsi vs Hutchinson betting odds.

Our prediction is a likely Buatsi win, with a decision victory the most likely outcome.

The long shot is a Buatsi KO/TKO. He has the power in his punches to do it and knocked Hutchinson down twice last time they met, but the Scot showed resilience and doesn’t stay down.
