Australian Open Women’s Final Preview: Sabalenka vs Keys
24/01/2025|SB Staff|Australian Open 2025 Tips & Predictions

It all comes down to this. After nearly two weeks of high-octane tennis under the Aussie sun, we have our two participants for the Australian Open 2025 Women’s Final.

Both Aryna Sabalenka and Madison Keys have outlasted 62 other hopefuls to set themselves up with a shot at AO glory.

For Keys, she will be setting foot into uncharted territory when she walks out on Rod Laver Arena, for what will be her maiden Australian Open Final.

There will be no such first-time nerves for her opponent Sabalenka, who has featured in and won the last two Australian Open Finals.

Yes, the 26-year-old is on a historic hat-trick, can she complete it? Or is it her American adversary Madison who holds the keys to victory?

For the latest betting tips, odds, and analysis for the 2025 Australian Open Women’s Final between Aryna Sabalenka and Madison Keys, check out our preview below.

Aryna Sabalenka (1) vs Madison Keys (19) Preview

Back-to-back champ Aryna Sabalenka is now just one win away from becoming the first woman since Martinia Hingis in 1999 to win three consecutive Australian Open Women’s Singles Titles.

As mentioned, standing between her and a third straight dose of AO glory is American Madison Keys.

Keys has finally unlocked her first ever Aus Open Final appearance and her first appearance in the final of a Major since 2017, when she made the big dance of her home Slam in the US.

Unsurprisingly, world No.1 Sabalenka has the superior head-to-head record between the two, with four wins to one.

That doesn’t mean Keys doesn’t have the means to trouble the back-to-back champ. The last time they met in a Grand Slam was the Semis of the 2023 US Open, where Keys took the first set 6-0.

In a staggering turnaround, Sabalenka won the next two sets in tiebreakers to win through to the final.

Lessons will no doubt have been learnt from that encounter by Keys and her camp, with her MO on Saturday night to surely be to keep her foot on the gas beyond just the first six games.

Australian Open Women’s Final Betting Tips

Match Betting

Naturally Sabalenka is the favourite in the H2H market, with Keys, at the time of writing, paying well over 3.00 to claim her maiden Grand Slam title.

However, there’s a reason no one has won three consecutive Women’s Singles Titles at the Australian Open for nearly 25 years, as achieving consistency of that level is nye impossible.

Not even someone as dominant as Serena Williams managed to do it, yet here stands Sabalenka on the brink of a historic hat-trick.

Sometimes heavy lies the crown and for our money Keys is playing the better tennis of the two at the moment.

Her come from behind victory over Iga Swiatek in the Semis, where she saved a match point, showed that she can handle the high-pressure moments.

We’re going to go for the value play and side with history, backing Keys to pull off a stunning upset victory and finally get her hands on a Grand Slam trophy.

Betting tip: Madison Keys.

Set Betting

Even though we are tipping Keys to upset Sabalenka, there’s no way we can see her doing it in straight sets.

Aryna simply has too much experience, firepower and momentum to be completely shut out here.

If Keys does pull off the upset it will be, you imagine, in an epic and long-winded three set affair, with a tiebreaker or two sprinkled in for good measure.

Betting tip: Madison Keys – 2-1.

Total Match Games (20.5)

Where there’s sets, there’s games and if this does descend into a three-set war as we predict it will, it’s more than likely that the watermark of 20.5 in the total match games will be surpassed.

All of Keys’ last three matches here at the Aus Open have contained well over 20.5 games, as it appears she doesn’t know you can win a Tennis match in two sets.

With not a single ounce of quit in either of these two fierce competitors, the over in this market seems like the smart play.

Betting tip: Over total match games.
