Australian Open Quarter-Finals Betting Tips

20/01/2025|SB Staff|Australian Open 2025 Tips & Predictions

We’re getting down to the pointy end of proceedings at Melbourne Park with the Australian Open 2025 Quarter-finals looming on our doorstep.

While we have seen a few upsets here and there, the cream appears to have risen to the top, with most of the big hitters still in play.

That’s all about to change, as eight will become just four in both the men’s and women’s draws.

Who is moving on and who is going home? If you’re looking for the latest betting tips, odds, and analysis for the Quarter-finals of the 2025 Australian Open, you’ve come to the right place.

Novak Djokovic (7) vs Carlos Alcaraz (3) Prediction

The inferior seed and the underdog in the H2H odds, it appears Father Time has finally caught up with Novak Djokovic.

Once considered effectively immortal on the courts of Melbourne Park, Novak is no longer immune from anything it seems.

That includes off-court slander from commentators such as Channel 9’s Tony Jones, who was sensationally caught on air roasting the Serbian superstar and his supporters.

A post-match interview boycott followed from the Djoker as he demanded an on-air apology, which has now finally materialised.

Still, you’d wager Alcaraz won’t be too happy with Tony either, as a hot under the collar Djokovic looms as a dangerous proposition. Forget the nearly $4 million prize, we can see Djokovic winning the whole tournament out of spite alone.

In terms of the match itself, both of these players share eerily similar approaches to the game of tennis and are more than happy to play all night, if need be, to get a result.

If this is anything other than a five-set epic, we will be truly surprised. Depending on when this one starts, it could go to the small hours of the morning, so make sure you have your work from home arrangements in place.

If Novak does come up short here, there will be no doubt about it, the guard will have officially changed at the top of tennis.

Still, with a brand-new fire in his belly courtesy of Tony Jones, we’re backing the old dog to produce some new tricks and take down this Australian Open Quarter-final.

Head-to-head prediction: Novak Djokovic.

Betting tip: Set betting – 3-2 Djokovic.

Aryna Sabalenka (1) vs Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova (27) Prediction

After dispatching 14th seed Mirra Andreeva 6-1, 6-2 to set up this QF showdown, it has become very apparent that Aryna Sabalenka is taking no prisoners on her quest for her third straight Australian Open crown.

You have to wind the clock back 26 years to find the last time someone lifted the Daphne Akhurst Memorial Cup three times in a row.

That of course was the great Martina Hingis. Can Sabalenka match the Swiss superstar? It’s too soon to say, as there will be some top, top tennis players waiting beyond this stage.

That being said, whoever is waiting in the Semis, we are backing Sabalenka to meet them. In straight sets to boot.

Head-to-head prediction: Aryna Sabalenka.

Betting tip: Set betting – 2-0 Sabalenka.

Tommy Paul (12) vs Alexander Zverev (2) Prediction

A couple of big hitters are set to meet in the Aus Open Quarter-finals, when No.2 seed Alexander Zverev takes on rising American Tommy Paul.

This is traditionally the type of fixture where Zverev would stumble and his tag as a perennial choker would resurface.

However, in 2025, there’s a new clinical edge to his game. Until last round he was yet to drop a set at this year’s Aus Open.

He’s still searching for that elusive first major, having made and lost both the finals of the US and French Opens.

Could he be about to break his duck Down Under? While it is unwise to look that far ahead, we’re confident he will give himself every chance to do so and advance to the final four at a minimum.

Paul will be no push over though and we expect him to at least take a set of his higher ranked opponent here.

Head-to-head prediction: Alexander Zverev.

Betting tip: Tommy Paul win the first set.

Coco Gauff (3) vs Paula Badosa (11) Prediction

Rounding out our Australian Open Quarter-final tips and predictions is this match between Coco Gauff and Paula Badosa.

Both endured testing fourth round matches, with Badosa in cruise control until forced into a second set tiebreaker, while Gauff had to fight back from a set down.

The way in which Gauff responded after losing the first set to Belinda Bencic, makes us think we may just have a future Aus Open champion on our hands.

Going down 5-7 in a hotly contested opening set, young Coco then put the hammer down to roar home 6-2, 6-1.

She fired off eight aces to one, won 77% of her rallies on her first serve and was far more clinical when it came to converting break points.

There’s no doubt Badosa will provide some strong resistance, but if Gauff gets a foothold here early, she should be able to see this one out.

Head-to-head prediction: Coco Gauff.

Betting tip: Over total match games (20.5).
