Sydney Swans vs Western Bulldogs Prediction - Round 17 2026
30/06/2026|Josh Jenkins|AFL Tips & Predictions
The Western Bulldogs will attempt to avenge their brutal loss to Sydney in Round 7 when they meet at the SCG on Friday night.
The Swans won that contest 126-60, with Charlie Curnow tormenting the Dogs' backline to end with seven goals. More recently though, the Swans were beaten comprehensively by the Lions last week – in a forgettable performance for many of their big names.
And the Dogs are looking a tougher prospect this time around, fresh off the bye and bringing winning form to the harbour city.
In their last win against the Saints, Marcus Bontempelli showed again why he’s one of the competitions best players, with a stellar performance including 34 possessions, 13 clearances and a goal.
With a win, the Bulldogs could climb as high as fourth, just as the race for finals spots tightens up.
But these Swans are no joke and will be out to prove a point, it’s going to be a huge team effort for the Dogs to remain competitive here.

Sydney Swans vs Western Bulldogs Prediction and Betting Tips
Head-to-Head Prediction
The Swans get home and hopefully get some bodies back for a clash with a refreshed Dogs squad. More than a few Swans were humbled in Queensland last week. And they’ll need to rebound strong here as the Dogs have a decent recent record against Sydney.
Whether the Swans can successfully keep Marcus Bontempelli quiet is key whilst Joel Freijah was on-song against them last time, too. Charlie Curnow booted seven majors earlier this season against Khamis and co.
This looms as a pressure clash for the Swans BUT one they should handle with some ease, in our humble opinion.
Head-to-head prediction: Sydney Swans by 23 points.
First Goal Scorer Prediction
Bet against Charlie Curnow at your own peril. After tearing this exact opposition to shreds with a massive seven-goal haul earlier in the year, he knows exactly how to exploit the space in the Dogs' defensive arc.
You’d think the Dogs will have made adjustments to nullify Charlie’s output, but with the elite midfield service of the Swans at home, we’re expecting Curnow to be kicking goals from the first ball-up.
Betting tip: Charlie Curnow.
Most Disposals Prediction
Unless Bontempelli pulls out a masterclass and physically carries the Dogs to victory in this one, we see most disposals coming from Isaac Heeney who has been a remarkably consistent performer in 2026.
Heeney currently sits at fourth for Brownlow Medal betting, reflecting the quality and consistency of his performances across the 2026 season.
He hasn’t gone under 30 disposals in the last five matches, and we can see him stepping up to prove a point in this one.
Betting tip: Isaac Heeney.
