Fremantle Dockers Record Breaking Winning Streak Reaches 11

02/06/2026|SB Staff|AFL News

-        Fremantle pushed their club-record winning streak to 11 games with a 25-point win over back-to-back reigning premiers Brisbane.

-        Freo got the job done despite missing midfield stars Caleb Serong and Hayden Young.

-        AFL legends Tom Mitchell and Rory Sloane labelled the Dockers as flag favourites..

-        Fremantle’s win/loss record for 2026 now sits at 12-1 as they sit at outright first position on the AFL ladder.

Dockers Winning Streak Hits 11 for the First Time in Club History

AFL legends Tom Mitchell, Rory Sloane and Lions even coach Chris Fagan have labelled the Dockers as flag favourites and "the real deal".

Key forward trio Josh Treacy, Jye Amiss and Pat Voss combined for 11 goals, sending warning shots the rest of the competition.

Fremantle have stamped themselves as the side to beat in the 2026 AFL premiership race, smashing back-to-back reigning premiers Brisbane by 25 points at the Gabba on Saturday to push their club-record winning streak to 11.

Dockers Blitz Sends a Premiership Warning

Justin Longmuir's Fremantle outfit produced the kind of statement performance flag contenders are made of. A third-quarter blitz of four goals in five minutes stretched the margin to 46 points and effectively iced the contest against the two-time defending premiers on their own deck.

What made it all the more impressive? The Dockers did it without midfield gun Caleb Serong and dynamic onballer Hayden Young

Even short-handed through the engine room, Fremantle found a way to get it forward and make the most of their dominant key forward trio of Treacy, Amiss and Patty Voss.

Tom Mitchell: "They're the Team to Beat"

Brownlow medallist Tom Mitchell didn't hold back when assessing the Purple Haze, declaring Longmuir's side a "complete team" with every base covered.

Mitchell claimed that Fremantle are the team to beat - with a healthy list and great squad depth, we’re thinking he’s on the money here.

If they can maintain their health throughout the season and take this in form list into finals time, they’ll have a good shot at the AFL flag in 2026.

Sloane Sees No Chinks in the Armour

Adelaide great Rory Sloane was equally bullish on the Dockers' premiership credentials, singling out their midfield as the benchmark of the competition.

"Their midfield group is the best two-way midfield group in the competition. They put defensive pressure on, they're not just reliant on winning heaps and heaps of footy, they don't over-use the ball, they don't stat-collect," Sloane said on the Sunday Footy Show.

"They play with incredible balance. There's no chinks in their armour at the moment at either end of the ground." Sloane also noted that Lions skipper Lachie Neale was successfully shut down by Fremantle's relentless midfield pressure.

Fagan Tips His Cap to the Visitors

Even Brisbane premiership coach Chris Fagan was forced to acknowledge Fremantle's class, suggesting the Dockers have entered the sweet spot of their development cycle.

"They're really good. They've been developing now for five or six years. Each time I play them, I can see those young blokes getting better. They're approaching a real sweet spot, I reckon, in their growth and development as a footy club," Fagan said.

"It's probably a mark of Fremantle's improvement that they've been able to come here and beat us at our ground… They look strong, and the big key forwards kicked 11 between them. They're a weapon."

With 11 wins on the trot and the AFL world taking notice, Fremantle's premiership push is now well and truly on.
