Melbourne Demons vs Brisbane Lions Prediction - Round 6 2026

17/04/2026|Josh Jenkins|AFL Tips & Predictions

Sunday Afternoon at the MCG, the all-conquering Brissy Lions take on the much-improved Melbourne Demons for Round 6 of AFL Season 2026.

The Dees will be desperate to flip the script after being outplayed by perennial losers, Essendon. The Dons dominated possession and never gave Melbourne a look in.

It was a concerning performance for a team about to verse the back-to-back premiers.

The Fitzroy contingent will be swapping their hipster jorts and Doc Martens Blundstones for Lions kit as they descend on the home of the Melbourne Football Club.

And the Queenslander crowd will be down for this one too; let’s just say, it’s a dangerous weekend to be a keg of XXXX in Melbourne.

They’re likely to be pleased early as the Dees have lost the first quarter in their last eight matches.

In contrast, the Brisbane Lions come into this clash following a high-quality contest against North Melbourne where the experience of the back-to-back premiers eventually won out.

After a pestering start from the Roos, Brisbane clicked into gear to secure their third straight victory.

The Lions return to the scene of their 2025 premiership glory looking to cement their status as a top contender in 2026.

Melbourne Demons vs Brisbane Lions Match Predictions and Betting Tips

Head-to-Head Prediction

Steven King will be eager for a response from his Dees following a disappointing performance against Essendon.

But the problem is, they’re running into a Lions team that seems to have clicked into gear. They also seem to have more gears than most of the rest in the competition.

Hopefully, we see an aggressive Melbourne side, which likely brings out the best in Brisbane, too.

The Lions will be keen to dominate at the venue where they took home the silverware for season 2025.

We’re not totally sure Melbourne have the cattle to stop the Lions when they’re in a mood.

Head-to-head prediction: Brisbane Lions.

First Goal Scorer Prediction

Charlie Cameron is our pick to light up the MCG this Sunday afternoon, we all know Chucky has a knack for stepping up on the big stage.

With the Dees' defence reshuffling due to injuries to key personnel like Christian Salem, Cameron should find plenty of opportunities early.

He’s looking in superb touch recently, and we expect him to snag the first major to set the tone for the Lions.

Betting Tip: Charlie Cameron.

Most Disposals Prediction

Lachie Neale is building into the season beautifully and looks better every week. Currently averaging 29 disposals, the highest of any player in this match.

With Melbourne struggling to stop the flow of possession lately, expect the two-time Brownlow medallist to make a huge impact and likely be the most prolific ball-winner on the ground.

Betting Tip: Lachie Neale.
