GWS Giants vs Brisbane Lions Prediction - Round 11 2026

22/05/2026|Josh Jenkins|AFL Tips & Predictions

Both sides are coming off disappointing defeats in Round 10, GWS and Brisbane will face off at ENGIE Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

GWS found a way to lose against the baby West Coast Eagles side, leaving them stranded in 13th place – a couple of wins outside the top ten.

Brisbane were soundly beaten by the Cats in Round 10; who were well and truly out for revenge after last years’ Grand Final. That said, we still think the Lions can beat anyone in this competition on their day.

The orange tsunami has looked more like a leaky tap when traveling interstate this season with just one win on the road - but returning to ENGIE should give them the energy to have a real crack at the reigning premiers.

We expect a fierce response from both clubs as they look to steady the ship with one eye on finals footy.

Can GWS serve the Lions a second helping of humble pie? Or is the fabled QLD spirit alive and well in this Lions outfit?

GWS Giants vs Brisbane Lions Match Predictions and Betting Tips

Head-to-Head Prediction

The Giants were stunned in Perth by the Eagles after starting the game in nice shape. We saw them leave some crucial chances on the table, which allowed the Eagles to rally and charge with 40,000 screaming West Australians behind them.

Finn Callaghan and Lachie Whitfield were heavily tagged, which asked their role players to stand up, and the structural struggles were completely obvious.

Captain Toby Greene was uncharacteristically quiet, while Aaron Cadman was thoroughly beaten by Reuben Ginbey.

The Lions were humbled by Geelong in the Grand Final rematch, but we have repeatedly seen this proud group respond whenever their back is against the wall, making this a daunting fixture for GWS.

Hugh McCluggage and Jaspa Fletcher are two Lions currently down on form, meaning there is immense personnel upside for the reigning premiers if they click into gear.

There are no panic stations just yet for Brisbane, but the alarm bells should certainly be sounding in western Sydney as a record of four wins and seven losses stares them right in the face.

We think the absolute desperation of the reigning premiers will see them edge out a close encounter on foreign soil.

Head-to-head prediction: Brisbane Lions by 13 points.

First Goal Scorer Prediction

There just may be a big, big, sound from the west of the town early in this match.

But that sound may be heard in the West of Brisbane from the fans back home as Charlie Cameron notches some early goals.

With the Giants' defensive unit missing key pillars; we expect the lethal Brisbane midfield to look deep into the forward 50 right from the opening bounce.

Cameron’s elite speed and sharp leading patterns make him the perfect candidate to slot an early major and get the visitors off to a flyer.

Betting tip: Charlie Cameron.

Most Disposals Prediction

Who else but the AFL fantasy pick and stick himself, Lachie Neale.

No doubt Neale will be heavily tagged in this contest – but it feels like we’ve seen that already 100 times.

And it just does not work, Lachie’s work rate, match awareness and craftiness mean he’ll end up finding plenty of ball no matter who you put on him.

If the Lions win this one; Lachie will have the most involvements; given the way GWS have been going lately, we’d be foolish to expect another outcome.

Betting tip: Lachie Neale.
