Geelong Cats vs Sydney Swans Prediction - Round 11 2026

21/05/2026|Josh Jenkins|AFL Tips & Predictions

Get ready for an absolute blockbuster, because Saturday arvo is serving up what shapes as the match of the round.

The Geelong Cats have well and truly hit their stride after a dominant performance last week against the Lions, while the Sydney Swans have set the benchmark for the competition in 2026, only dropping one game.

Set to test their credentials as flag favourites, Sydney will visit Geelong at GMHBA Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Swans improved to a 9-1 record this season by overcoming Collingwood 81-75 at the SCG last Friday; displaying their ability to win in multiple ways – whether it be a grind or a shootout.

Geelong was also an emphatic winner during Round 10, completely upsetting Brisbane 117-76 at the Gabba to re-establish itself as a genuine heavyweight. Shaun Mannagh starred in that stunning win, showcasing his class with 30 disposals, 14 score involvements, and a career-high five goals.

The Cats were equally dominant in the latest meeting between these sides, securing a comfortable 111-68 victory at the SCG late last season to make it seven wins from their past 11 clashes against Sydney.

That successful stretch includes two victories at Kardinia Park, with the most recent being a lopsided 130-37 obliteration back in 2023.

Grab your popcorn and your beverage of choice; we’re in for a blockbuster in Geelong on Saturday arvo.

Geelong Cats vs Sydney Swans Match Predictions and Betting Tips

Head-to-Head Prediction

This blockbuster match shapes up as the main event on a weekend where the footy world is also celebrating historical milestones.

The Swans have not travelled down to GMHBA Stadium in a few seasons, and they will probably be glad about that fact.

The last time they set foot on Kardinia Park, they left as disappointed 93-point losers.

Sydney’s signature forward-handball game will be tested immensely on the uniquely skinny confines of the Geelong deck, where the Cats defend the ground incredibly well.

Tom Stewart returned to his absolute best form last week, while Jack Henry did an excellent job filling the defensive void.

Combined with Shaun Mannagh having a game to remember, the Cats are brimming with confidence.

We think tactical tagging roles will decide this contest. Oisin Mullin and Mark O’Connor could have massive shutdown jobs assigned to them, with Mullin potentially trailing any one of Isaac Heeney, Chad Warner, or even Nick Blakey.

Meanwhile, look for James Jordon to head straight toward Cats star Bailey Smith to stifle his distribution.

The Cats are heavily favoured to start fast at home and turn this blockbuster into a tight, physical contest. However, we think the Swans have just enough class to edge it out late in a thriller.

Head-to-head prediction: Sydney Swans by 2 points.

First Goal Scorer Prediction

We see this one as a shootout between Jeremy Cameron and Charlie Curnow to see who can get their side off to the perfect start.

You simply can’t look past the reigning Coleman Medallist, Jeremy Cameron, who currently sits second on the league's goal-kicking tally this year.

Geelong are notoriously dominant at home and they will be looking to feed Jezza inside 50 right from the opening bounce.

Expect his elite leading patterns to prove too much for the Swans' backline to contain early on.

Betting tip: Jeremy Cameron.

Most Disposals Prediction

Geelong's prolific midfielder Bailey Smith is bound to attract a heavy tag in this high-intensity match, which opens the door for someone else to dominate the stats sheet.

We love the look of Nick Blakey coming off a spectacular 39-disposal performance against Collingwood last week.

He has been the primary distributor from half-back and is consistently pushing up the ground to act as a dangerous midfield hybrid.

Expect the ball to go through his hands constantly as the Swans look to exploit the open spaces.

Betting tip: Nick Blakey.
