Carlton Blues vs Western Bulldogs Prediction - Round 10 2026
14/05/2026|Josh Jenkins|AFL Tips & Predictions
As I’m sure you’ve heard by now; the Carlton Blues are coachless in Round 10 of the 2026 AFL season.
Legend of a bloke and longtime coach Michael Voss resigned this week after a horror 8-1 start to the year.
The Blues will be galvanised this weekend in their first match without Vossy against the Western Bulldogs on Saturday night.
Voss’ departure comes on the back of their Round 9; 100-89 point loss, ironically against his former club Brisbane Lions.
While the scoreline suggested a closer contest than some of their previous outings, the psychological toll of a one-nine start has clearly reached a breaking point at Ikon Park.
The Carlton faithful are looking for any sign of a heartbeat as the post-Vossy era enters its first test.
The Western Bulldogs will be back in Victoria after improving to 5-4 this season via last Friday’s 74-72 win over Port Adelaide at the Adelaide Oval.
Despite reportedly nursing multiple injuries, Marcus Bontempelli was immense en route to that result, finishing with 30 disposals at 90% efficiency, 10 tackles and a goal.
The victory snapped a four-match losing streak and featured a significantly improved defensive performance, having allowed 118.8 points per contest during that stretch.
The Bulldogs have historically found ways to exploit Carlton's defensive lapses, and they will be eager to solidify their spot in the top eight by adding more misery to the Blues' season.
This matchup serves as a critical juncture for both clubs. For Carlton, it is about pride and finding a structural identity that has eluded them all year.
For the Bulldogs, it is about consistency and proving that their gritty win in Adelaide was the spark they needed to launch a serious campaign.

Carlton Blues vs Western Bulldogs Prediction and Betting Tips
Head-to-Head Prediction
The Blues found some life late against Brisbane last week and had opportunities to genuinely challenge the champs.
Hopefully, as a group, they can take that forward and push these Dogs.
Carlton’s biggest hurdle isn't just the opposition; it is the psychological ruin of a disastrous season and the sudden vacuum left by Voss.
We need to see if the players can galvanise or if they will further retreat into their shells.
Those Dogs went to Adelaide and did just enough to get by Port Adelaide. Again, Marcus Bontempelli was superhuman, showing why he is the best player in the league even when he’s banged up.
Ryley Sanders’ game is not stylish but he’s prolific and worked fairly well off Zak Butters in Origin, too.
Jacob Weitering will likely take the challenge against Aaron Naughton; that’ll be a pivotal match-up that could determine the result.
The Bulldogs have won the last three head-to-head meetings between these clubs, and given the chaos at Carlton, we think they will make it four in a row.
Head-to-head prediction: Western Bulldogs by 17 points.
First Goal Scorer Prediction
We like Harry McKay for first goal scored because of the high stakes surrounding the club this week.
If the veteran tall was ever going to stand up and lead by example, now would be the time.
McKay remains the primary target inside 50 for the Blues and with the "new coach" directive likely focusing on simplified, direct ball movement, he should get an early look at the big sticks.
Betting tip: Harry McKay.
Most Disposals Prediction
In the most disposals market, we are backing Patrick Cripps to respond to his critics.
He has been out of form this season and has copped a lot of heat for Carlton’s problems, but in the wake of Vossy being sacked, we are expecting Crippa to come out firing and put in a massive account of himself.
He is a genuine leader who thrives in contested environments, he should rack up the involvements in this one – at least for the first three quarters.
Betting tip: Patrick Cripps.
