Could it get any worse for the Blues in 2025?

After losing to their most bitter rivals after once again deciding not to re-emerge from the rooms after halftime, Carlton is still searching for its first win of the year.

Not much has gone right at Ikon Park this year… Could it get any worse?

The crazy thing is… it might just. Surely they’re not that bad that the thought of them losing to this West Coast team is even a consideration.

Yes, this West Coast team who are also yet to win a game, who got pounded by 80-points to the Giants on the weekend and are battling to keep their captain and best young player.

Either way, someone is leaving the Adelaide Oval on Saturday afternoon with their first win of the season.

For the latest team news, analysis, odds and betting tips, check out our Blues vs Eagles prediction and preview below.

Carlton Blues vs West Coast Eagles Predicted Teams

Carlton Predicted Team List

B: Jordan Boyd, Jacob Weitering, Sam Docherty

HB: Adam Saad, Jack Silvagni, Ollie Hollands

C: Blake Acres, Patrick Cripps, Sam Walsh

HF: Zac Williams, Charlie Curnow, Corey Durdin

F: Will White, Brodie Kemp, Jesse Motlop

Foll: Tom De Koning, Adam Cerra, George Hewett

Int: Cooper Lord, Lachie Fogarty, Elijah Hollands, Nick Haynes, Ashton Moir

West Coast Predicted Team List

B: Reuben Ginbey, Sandy Brock, Brady Hough

HB: Tyrel Dewar, Harry Edwards, Liam Baker

C: Jayden Hunt, Jack Graham, Liam Duggan

HF: Jack Hutchison, Archer Reid, Tyler Brockman

F: Jake Waterman, Oscar Allen, Jamie Cripps

Foll: Bailey Williams, Harley Reid, Tim Kelly

Int: Bo Allan, Matt Owies, Tom Cole, Hamish Davis, Jack Williams

Carlton Blues vs West Coast Eagles Prediction & Betting Tips

Head-to-Head Prediction

The Blues’ last win came against the Eagles back when they sent their spare parts side, and Patrick Cripps over to Perth for a mission to save the season.

They’ll be looking for captain Cripps to put his superman cape on once again and lead them out of the bushfire that has been season 2025 to date.

The Blues will be hopeful of regaining two key pieces in Harry McKay and Elijah Hollands who both made returns from respective personal leave periods through the VFL. There’s a call to be made on how quickly they get brought back but the Blues would be hoping they are right to go.

The Eagles too are sweating on the fitness of key-forward Jake Waterman who hasn’t been seen since round 1.

The Eagles will have to find a solution to its defence this week after Jesse Hogan kicked nine goals on debutant Sandy Brock last week. The absence of Jeremy McGovern is even larger now with Tom Barass not at the club anymore. Reinforcements are needed.

Look, Carlton should be winning this game but it’s far from a fait accompli.

No matter how poorly the Eagles are going, this one will be a tough watch for Blues fans. Especially after half-time.

They should win because as badly as Carlton is going at the moment, this Eagles side is going significantly worse.

But anything is possible in footy. Either way, bring your popcorn if you catch a guise of this one.

Betting tip: Carlton

First Goal Prediction

Charlie Curnow has loved playing West Coast in recent times. With bags of 10, nine and five goals in his past three meetings, If the Blues can fix their supply issues, lock him in for a big bag again.

Betting tip: Charlie Curnow

Most Disposals Prediction

When the going gets tough, the tough usually get going. A big captains game is needed from the Blues skipper. Just as he did in this matchup last year, we think he’ll duly deliver.

Betting Tip: Patrick Cripps 35+ disposals

Carlton Blues vs West Coast Eagles Cats Match Details

Date: Saturday April 12th

First Bounce: 1:20 PM, AEDT

Location: Adelaide Oval, Adelaide

How to watch: Fox Footy/ Kayo Sports
