Carlton Blues vs St Kilda Saints Prediction - Round 8 2026

01/05/2026|Josh Jenkins|AFL Tips & Predictions

Set to meet for the first time since the offseason moves of Tom De Koning and Jack Silvagni, Carlton and St Kilda will face off at Marvel Stadium on Saturday night.

Round 7 saw Carlton slump to their fifth straight defeat and sink to 16th on the ladder in what’s been a nightmare 2026 campaign for Vossy and the Blues faithful.

They put in a good account of themselves in a 103-89 loss to 3rd placed Fremantle in Perth and each of their defeats have come by a margin of under five goals.

The 2026 Blues have become infamous for relinquishing leads and have been criticised for a lack of spirit shown in the back end of games.

St Kilda on the other hand put an absolute cricket score on West Coast - their latest fixture was a far more one-sided affair.

The Eagles had no answer for Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera as he dominated the match, which ended in a 143-42 scoreline.

Nasiah finished the match with 34 disposals, 678 metres gained, 11 score involvements and helped to provide Jack Higgins with a five-goal haul.

Considering the form of both sides, one would have to be leaning towards St Kilda in this one.

Carlton did get the better of St Kilda 77-62 when they last met in Round 9, 2025. However, De Koning and the freshly minted Sydney Swan Charlie Curnow, were all influential in that meeting.

It’s looking like another week of pain for Blues fans unfortunately, Saints are in the box seat to secure their fourth win of 2026 and take a step closer to the top 10.

St Kilda Saints vs Carlton Blues Prediction and Betting Tips

Head-to-Head Prediction

Another weird and wacky addition to the quirks of the AFL fixture - Carlton plays a home ground at St Kilda’s home venue despite the fact the Blues' main home venue is 5km across town.

And there’s already a game at Marvel Stadium the same afternoon. Bizarre scheduling from the powers that be, but we move on.

The Blues were never a match for Freo but did hang in there and make the scoreboard seem respectable by night’s end.

The Saints had only disrespect on their mind with a triple-figure hammering of West Coast. Once upon a time, Docklands was worth 3-4 goals to this Saints crew, but there’s little doubt their offensive system is improving as names like Darcy Wilson, Mattaes Phillipou, and Max Hall improve.

Max King’s presence looms, too, though he will not be at AFL level yet this week. If the Saints can get speed on the game via their young talent, they’ll be too slick for the one-paced Carlton side.

If the Blues do hit the lead in this one, we don’t expect them to hold it.

Head-to-head prediction: St Kilda Saints by 18 points.

First Goal Scorer Prediction

The Blues welcome back a key target forward of the ball in Harry McKay.

We’re expecting a big performance early from big H, he’ll get the Blues off to a good start before the performance eventually unravels for Carlton in the third quarter.

Betting tip: Harry McKay.

Most Disposals Prediction

Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera is in elite touch after an elite performance against West Coast last week.

On the fast deck at Marvel Stadium, against Carlton’s weakened defence, we reckon Nasiah will be in for another massive outing here.

He’ll be at the top of the list when it comes to disposals and we’d be surprised if he doesn’t snag a goal or two himself.

Betting tip: Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera.
