Last weekend's AFL Finals Footy best bets on The Huddle were rock solid.

Of the four best bets, we nailed three with Luke "Action" Jackson, Geelong and Adelaide all doing the job. Our only miss was Logan Morris for three snags, of course he kicked 2.2.

The weekend of footy was full of surprises, none more so than Fremantle and Brisbane both going down in emphatic fashion.

They'll both be on the rebound this week in fascinating semi-finals.

So, how did the Wildcard Round experiment go? Four clubs earned their way in and all four are watching semi-finals from the couch.

Judged on survival rates, the experiment has produced what many anticipated, with ladder positions 7-10 unable to match it with the top six.

Judged on eyeballs and turnstiles, it was a huge success. The wildcard weekend set a viewership record that stood for all of seven days before Geelong and Carlton smashed it with a reach of 4.2 million and 96,680 through the MCG gates.

But with the Wildcard teams vanquished, that’s all in the past – onto the semi-finals where there are no second chances.

Fremantle Dockers vs Geelong Cats Prediction

Friday, September 11, 8:10pm AEST (6:10pm AWST) – Optus Stadium, Perth

Chris Scott is already playing some mind games and heaping as much pressure on these Dockers as possible, declaring his Cats have no fear travelling to Perth to try knockout the overall No. 1 seed.

For Justin Longmuir's men, belief and boldness is key. They played timid footy last week and allowed themselves to be paralysed by Hawthorn's fierce pressure.

Their big three forwards must perform better with Treacy, Amiss and Voss combining for just two goals. They'll need 5+ between them you'd imagine. Jordan Clark provided drive but no one else played with any dare or decisiveness.

Bolton, Reid, Treacy, Amiss, Voss and a couple of others saved their worst performance of the season for last week's final. No good.

The beauty of being a top four side is you earn a second chance. And these Dockers will be desperate to atone.

Mark Blicavs and Mitch Edwards will attempt to quell Luke Jackson. The big man has had 27 and 28 disposals in his two clashes with the Geelong rucks this season. He's more than a handful.

And can Patrick Dangerfield back up his BOG display from last week? Age says no, his will might say otherwise.

All the pressure is on Fremantle here and the Cats know it.

This Freo side has not won a final since 2022. The current Geelong side has won three in twelve months. Finals footy does hit different, as we saw with the Crows last season. Could this be the end of Flagmantle?

We reckon they’ve got something left.

Head-to-head prediction: Fremantle Dockers by 11 points.

Betting tip: Jye Amiss 2+ goals and Josh Treacy 2+ goals.

Brisbane Lions vs Adelaide Crows Prediction

Saturday, September 12, 7:35pm AEST – The Gabba, Brisbane

The Lions failed to roar into Sydney and were ambushed by a hungry and driven Swans outfit.

From here, it's knockout footy for the Lions who are aiming for B2B2B glory. And they'll all need to play much better to have any shot at that. Their midfield group was smashed, especially from centre ball up scores and the tall defenders in Andrews, Lester and Gardiner played as badly as I've seen in five years.

For the Crows, they’ll also be keen to improve, despite beating the Dogs.

They did enough to get by the Western Bulldogs but I'm not sure that performance beats anyone else left in the finals. Importantly, Fogarty and Thilthorpe came to life at different stages with the latter kicking a key goal in the last term.

You can be assured Josh Dunkley will be assigned to Jordan Dawson and Conor McKenna will aim to take out Wayne Milera. The Lions did not take anyone out from the Swans last week and I'd be sure Chris Fagan will be keen to change the mindset this week with some defensive roles.

The best of Brisbane beats anyone and I reckon we get something somewhere near their best here.

Head-to-head prediction: Brisbane Lions by 23 points.
