SHEAR MAGIC (6) turned in a fine effort to score by half a length at today's course and distance when first-up from a spell last time out. Meeting a tougher field but on his best form he is one of the chief contenders. LUCA MACHINE (8) sat just off the speed and fought on well to finish third when resuming last start at this course and distance. Good record at this journey with two wins and two minor placings from five starts and looks a top chance. RYE DIGGITYDOG (3) hasn't been able to break through for an extended period, the latest effort a fifth over 1106m at Laurel Turf (Turf). Will enjoy a drop in class so he is sure to be prominent. NIGHT PREACHER (2) hit the frame two starts ago at Delaware Park but ran below par last time when seventh and beaten 5.5 lengths over 1006m at Delaware Park Turf (Turf). Has his share of ability and can do a lot better.
