INTO THE LIGHT (5) disappointed when 8.25L eleventh attempting 2400m in the King George V Stakes at Ascot. Had previously been denied a short head by a subsequent London Gold Cup winner over 2000m at Sandown. First-time cheekpieces may help and sets the standard. PIERIAN (4) won twice before finishing 7.5L fourth in the Listed Prix de Thiberville tackling 2400m. Handicap debut makes her the main danger. SILVER STATE (1) finished second on his last two starts. Most recently beaten 1L contesting 2100m at Chester. Makes some appeal. PEARL RIVER (2) won at York and was a neck second at Salisbury before failing in the John Smith Cup. Not discounted.
