ZIVOU (3) ran on late as a hot favourite on debut in the spring, and then battled home for sixth at Taupo prior to having a short freshen up. He will be a lot stronger now, and if 1200m is not already too short for him, then he is the one to beat. SALTBURN (1) probably should have won a race by now, but he will be maturing all the time, and he has been placed in his only start on this track. Michael Murphy is eager to make a name for himself in NZ, and can kick his time off here on a winning note. TOMAHAWK (6) was showing talent at the trials before weakening late as the favourite on debut at Trentham just over 3 weeks ago. He will improve with the experience, and with the advantage of the pole position, he can make amends, so follow your money. MAZINO (10) cops a wide gate, but can't be faulted with her consistency. Each way claims again. ICELAND POPPY (7) set the pace before weakening late at Te Aroha 8 weeks ago, finishing second by less than a length. Stick with her third up.
