3, 7 and 10 the on-pace trio in a race mostly populated by get-backers. AETHELFLAED has evidently had some serious issues along the way. After finishing runner-up to Zardozi in a VRC Oaks she had 17 months off the scene. Then returned for a brief but pleasing prep and then again has gone for a lengthy layoff, this one 16 months. Pleasing enough in two recent trials and you can easily argue she is the quality stayer of this group, with just 54 kilos after a claim. ANTHRACITE is even lower in the weights but but has been all round a win this prep. Beaten by Aethelwulf (stablemate of AETHELFLAED and by same sire) last start but he did have more fitness on board.
